You could NOT have made this process any easier. I'm starting on .905. I wish I would have stayed on .901. My phone was great on that.

...Checking MD5 now...

I really tried very hard to make it as simple as I possibly could. If you're on 905 you don't need to use the HoB technically. You could just push the update to your sdcard-ext and install it from recovery.

I don't mean to start a ruccus, and I don't mean to argue, but this is the kind of stuff that bothers me about jumping the gun now:

From your FAQ:

I want to be guarenteed that my ICS update will be the final version, that I'm on the OTA path, and that I don't screw up my phone in the process. And I also would prefer it to be an easy, seamless process just like my dad's Droid 4 when it was updated to ICS from GB. While HoB sounds pretty nice, it doesn't guarantee anything and everything. And as mentioned before, it really is just a leap of faith when you use it. I'm excellent with computers, but I'm still very new when it comes to smartphones and tablets.

Then, you wait for 3-6 weeks. Not a big deal.

That's the one I used. I'm right now trying to install (246) file but it keeps burping, giving me a "An error occurred while trying to copy a file: The source file is corrupted." I retried twice, but still the same error. I'm going shut down some things I'm running, including antivirus (AVG) to see if that helps.

EDIT: I'm downloading the file again, in case it was actually corrupted.
Are you sure there isn't something wrong with your PC? Do you have a second PC you can try this on?

To do this, do I just put the 246 .exe that I downloaded from your link on the sdcard-ext? I was under the impression that it would be looking for a .zip file. If that is the case, where can I just get the .zip from?

You're right. It's your choice and if you don't feel comfortable doing it then you shouldn't. I was just trying to let you know how easy it is with HoB.:happy3:

Yeah, but no. I'll use the HoB, thanks. It's that potential safety net I want. I'm all for taking a risk with my phone but I'd rather mitigate it just a bit.

Google tweakers oc an follow the instructions most bionics cant handle over 1.350 mhz some can go to 1.4 mhz but if ur lucky an u have one like mine u can run stable at 1.405 but u have to be in performance mode cuz with it oced that high it doesnt scale properly

The exe is an installer. If you get just that and run it, it'll create a new 246 directory with the update zip, the boot.img, and the recovery.img. You would then put the update zip on your sdcard-ext, reboot into recovery, flash it, wipe the cache, reboot, and you're done. Those already on 905 have it easy....the updates are DESIGNED for 905. It's only when you're on an update and you need to move forward that the HoB is required.

Completely understood. I just wanted to throw that out there that you have options if you so desire. We'll get it to install one way or another. I'm not too concerned.

I used the HoB to go from .905 to .232 then FXZ'd back to .905 in anticipation of the OTA. Then I used it again to go to .246 when the OTA turned out to be not so imminent.

The easiest thing in the world. And I'm a noob. Word of advice: be patient. Just when you think nothing is happening or it's stalled, froze, or whatever...it all comes together.
