Nope I used it all last weekend at the race with no problems. Was texting my wife last night. No issue at all. I use handcent.

Using chomp but still have stock enabled too. weird. Hopefully it will work itself out. Open to suggestions though.

Don't know. I went in and disabled their POS built in text messaging app. :D Same with voicemail. Haven't had any problems.

We're they sent while your phone was off for the upgrade? (I think I saw you upgraded today, but I've lost count with all the thread updates dammit.)

*IF* the version of the OTA differs from 246 then Samuri will be on it - this we can be sure of! He has responded very quickly to new builds as they have appeared. Plus, given all the people who read this whom have already taken the plunge, well, know you will not be alone.

But if you looking for absolutes: wait for the OTA. It's what I'm having my wife do.

It is generally. Going from 905 > Leak is dead simple. Going from 246 > 248 (if this happens) is only a tiny bit more difficult. Sam has really done amazing things w/that batch file! He has gotten it down to being less risky than taking a leak (so to speak).

It won't provided you follow the instructions. Even then, unless you do something truly stupid the process is fairly idiot proof - I was skipping step 2 which is critical and didn't brick my phone!

Keep in mind there are 0 guarantees. You can have the OTA hit your phone and well.. if your phone loses power during the upgrade process, you're toast.

Lodmot, only you can decide what's right for you. I personally find it weird you keep posting here saying you want guarantees but want it and keep posting about it. You're on the fence it seems. Decide for yourself, feel good about it and be content. Yes it's scary, but if there is one thing you have seen now very clearly is that there is a fairly large community of folks here who are willing to help you if you decide to take the plunge.

I'll look through the FAQ and check it out. I'm going to my uncle's soon though, so I'll decide whether I'm going to do it or not during the ride.
The other thing too is, I'm running on Ubuntu. Is there a version of the script that runs on that or is the Linux process more manual?

I'm just trying to avoid having done it without being the dumbass because I know so little about this stuff. I work mainly on PC's and some Macs.
You hear a lot of people getting stuck bricking their phones, because in reality they don't know how to do what they're attempting to do.
I don't want to be stupid like that. So part of me feels better off just waiting. But the other part of me is like "GAH! **** it!" xDD

I'll decide what I'm going to do within two hours or so.

Anyone on .246 having issues with getting texts? Wife said she sent several and I haven't gotten them. Just wondering.

No texting issues for me. I did notice that I wasn't getting text for the first hour or so after I installing 246 though, just assumed that was getting back on the system.

Probably the case. :/

I'm upgrading to 246 now, RSD is taking much longer than the 10-20 minutes with no error message. Is something wrong or is mine just slower than usual?

Verizon has always lost about 1% of my texts, or delayed them for hours or even days. It has gotten slightly better over time, and I've always attributed it to the Verizon network and not the phone. Texts are sent as part of the administrative data stream, not the main data stream - and it necessarily must have lower priority than administrative data. I suspect that may have something to do with it.

The FAQ has steps linux/mac users can take, but, it is definitely manual. I don't have time to write/support HoB for other platforms. Don't let anyone tell you different....if you're not comfortable with it, don't do it.

Go drink a beer. It's just slow. That 10-20 minutes is just an average. I'm guessing you're on webtop/grfs.img? If so, go drink a beer then take a nap. :)
