finished cleaning EVERYTHING off of the external SD, decided now was as good time as any to pull all the pics and MP3's I have accumulated since I have been using the same card since my Rooted OG Droid, hell I still had some ROM zips on there I had used way back then. Used Super Manager to do a backup and moved that to my laptop, now I am just waiting for the sideloader to download from 4shared. its taking for ever at 200 ~ 300KB /sec
need to start getting ready to head out for a family gathering tonight, so I guess the move to .246 will likely wait for tomorrow.
Quick question, Since i just cleaned up my card and did a back-up would it make any difference or be of benefit if I just did a FDR & or un-root before I got started with the HoB directions ?
ATRIX is outside of its 18 month support window. Not so sure why the Photon isn't getting it. Maybe it didn't sell very well, or it has something to do with the fact that it's not LTE. Perhaps Sprint simply didn't want it to.

Well, look on the bright side. Had the original XT865 design for the Bionic made it to market, WE probably wouldn't be having an ICS discussion, either. We're kind of lucky that we got the XT875 instead.
Ok - I'm on 905 and close to pulling the trigger on 246. I'm mainly trying to decide on root vs no root. My OG droid was rooted so I could look at more things on it, and could do full backups. VZW had been moving towards making life miserable for rooted phone owners, but the recent meeting reports sounds like they're backing down on much of that. So what - if any - negatives are there to rooting? I got my Bionic on day one, so it is past the one year warranty.

Well that's true. The original 512MB would have killed that.
Still, I just hate it when other phones that deserve to get upgraded don't. The ATRIX turned 18 only back in July. There was still time to do one ICS update. Hopefully there is a decent modding community and they're able to get those folks on ICS. GB on those phone is such a waste.

This is not true. People have a very big misunderstanding of what's really happening when they FXZ (which you can't do on 246, so, the point is irrelevant anyway). FXZ'ing back to 905 installs a version of recovery that doesn't show the check. That's all. As soon as it's upgraded to ICS again, the information is "back". In truth it never got "reset". It just wasn't shown cause there was an old version of recovery. This is one of the bigger reasons for the security update on all Moto ICS builds.
