Wireless Moot

OK. That makes a lot of sense.. but now I don't understand why after moving to say 246 you can't FXZ back. I assume moto is doing something to the firmware to say you can't use that full system image anymore? Just curious to understand the whole thing. Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question.

You need to understand what a locked bootloader means. Ever wonder why we can't just flash any old thing we want? That's the security of a locked bootloader. For the builds 235 and above, they upped the security on the partitions. If you try to flash and old image for a partition, you will either fail to flash or brick your phone. This is why you can't simply FXZ back to 905 from 235+. The security of all the builds 235 and above is the same, so you can move between those builds without issue. But no FXZ'ing with 905.

lol... OK. I understand now. Thanks for being patient. Mucho props.. :hail:

Off subject but a new build of cm10 is up and it's running great!

I just downloaded it, but where the hell do they keep the changelogs? I've never seen a ROM that it's so hard to find information about in my entire Android life.

Lol the end is near I'm guessing.

yea, it's almost December 21st!!!! Oh, maybe you meant the upgrade, it just finished!!!! Samuri, I swear eternal allegence to you (at least until the next update when my core memory gets erased)!!!

Now, what's a good wifi tether app to use (haven't been on stock for quite some time!)?

And to go into further detail, the bootloader looks for a specific kernel to load. If it can't find it, it won't boot using any other kernel afaik.

I once knew this guy whose cousins uncles neighbor knew this old hermit that raised half bred Kimodo dragons and porcupines and they fed them chameleons. One day, the offspring of this cross breeding mated with a Chihuahua. The resulting mutated being got into a fight with a stray cat. The neighborhood kids were never the same again.

I know I saw something about going off topic so I'm just doing my part.

*Seriously though, how is that JB rom overall.. besides the camera issue?

That's not ENTIRELY accurate. In theory, you can boot let's say, 246 with a 244 kernel. It's not recommended, but, I believe it's possible.

So i'm guessing the answer is that there IS no changelog? Wish I knew what I just installed on my phone *LMAO* - oh well, no guts no glory!

I know there was talk of using some kernel panic methods out there where you can basically force it to load another kernel during the boot process. But this is way too risky for me. I'll just stick with leaks or otas.

Actually, it's called kexec, and it's not risky - it's an acceptable thing in the Linux world. There is a CM10 kexec build available right now, i'm using the stock ICS kernel build though, as it is more functional.
