Wireless Moot

*LOL* I reserve my judgement until I SEE that they "have the best Android chipset available". Intel claimed that the P4 was the best thing since sliced bread, and clock for clock it was slower than a P3. If Moto switches to Intel, we are in for a long wait for apps to become compatible, though. An x86 isn't going to execute native ARM code, so most of my games probably will not work for the first year or so.

That's why I said we'll wait and see. For now, I'm still debating on a new phone or not. Quite honestly, I've been happy with the bionic with 244/246. I could easily run with it for another 6 months and see what happens.

So far the .246 has been rock stable. I'm not liking how they changed the mail app though. I used to click the mail app and then click which email box I've setup. Now it just defaults to last used. It may be just needing some adjustment. 2 personal emails, 1 work exchange and 1 business email and shifting between folders on the corner sucks =P Thats my only complaint so far. Everything else runs like a champ. Also it looks like my phone is now clocked at 1.2ghz =D

I opted for touchdown for my corporate exchange email. Haven't regretted it once.

Me too. As much as I complain about the damn OTA going official, I actually love the stupid phone *LMAO* As a matter of fact, I don't see much out there that I actually want more than what I already have. I can't blame the phone just because it happened to go to an asshat carrier. And to be honest, i've been one of the lucky ones; even on .905 my Bionic has NEVER failed me. More than I can say for a lot of phones that i've had. *cough*BB Storm*cough*

I have been saying read my faq over and over again. People (not you, captain crypto) have ignored it or said "I did, couldn't find what *I'm* looking for" which is pretty much what I expect. See, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been dealing with forums and helping people for a *VERY* long time. If you think this Bionic phone stuff is hard, you should try dealing with AACS, BD+, Cinavia, crappy PC drives that give read errors constantly, and an entitlement attitude that since "I bought your program you owe it to me to fix every single possible problem I may have even if it's not related to the software I purchased." You know how many FAQ's I've written for SlySoft? I love the one that says "How to ask for help BEFORE posting". "It doesn't work." Love it. :)

Well, even those of us "well versed" in HoB might have a question from time to time, or just want to reassure ourselves. For people like us, your FAQ is very useful and I for one appreciate you making it. You can't force anyone to read if they don't want to, but THEY need to realize that HoB is free - you're not asking people to pay for it. You don't OWE anyone anything, you've already given us enough. Working in IT, I get a lot of dumbassed questions. At some point, I simply have to tell people that I cannot help them, if they do not want to take the time to help themselves.

I'm spoiled. I've almost always had Moto phones. (That sony ericson POS was just a bad bad experiment in leaving the moto nest). OG Droid was my first Android experience. Talk about being spoiled. The ORIGINAL GED superstar....."bootloader locking? WTF is that?" Then my Xoom...another GED and unlockable. Ok, comes locked, but, at least I can fix it. Then the Bionic....great phone. Truly love it. But the locked bootloader left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth around Xmas when I bricked it so bad that the community spent 36 hours helping me fix it. (Timmy10shoes rocks!) With leaks, it really isn't so bad, though. Consider that we've had ICS since June. Not official, no, but, so? My method for unbricking even the secure leaks has worked EVERY time for you has it not? Honestly speaking, what would an FXZ give you that the HoB + leaks hasn't already OTHER than piece of mind? (And being able to exchange your Bionic which I fully understand and appreciate). So, while the locked bootloader thing sucks, we haven't suffered as much as we could have as a result. And since I know of at least one person staying on 905 (cause he doesn't use his bionic, and probably 2 people come to think of it), we should be able to cheesecake in the future, as well. Hopefully.

I worked a help desk for over a year, so, I get it. I literally took over 100 calls a day. While I don't owe anyone anything, I want people to realize something. To me this is a matter of pride. Out of all the people who have come to me for help, even the ones who've complained LOUDLY about the manner in which I provide it, I've helped every single person. So far, I have a flawless support record. Sometimes the answers I give aren't popular, but, no one's been left without a working phone that was caused by the HoB. A FAQ, while wonderful, can't accomplish that. It takes a very different approach to support. Many don't like my style, but, to them I simply say, argue with the results if you can...

I agree. 100%. And our overall ICS experience has been positive from the getgo, leakwise. We haven't had any disasterously bad leaks at all. And HoB has made the whole thing easy to the point where the bootloader is more of an inconvenience than a disasterous thing to deal with. The only question I have about Cheesecaking in the future is simple - once .246 goes OTA, wouldn't any subsequent build use .246 as a base and not .905? Or would someone on .905 just need to make their phone APPEAR to be running .246 in order to snag the next leak?

I love Motorola phones. My first phone 7 years ago was a Samsung flip phone with a cool rotating camera in the middle.. But didn't like it. Up next was some Motorola flip phone that was meant for music and had a cool music player on the front that had softkeys, like we do on the Bionic. I gave that up pretty quickly only because my dad didn't like his LG Envy 1, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever to have a keyboard on your phone, but it was definitely not worth it, I wish I stuck with the other one. Next came the Droid 1, a month after it came out. To this day I absolutely love that phone, it lasted 2 years and 2 months, then the touchscreen gave in, which probably had something to do with me having it overclocked to 800hz when it was mainly a 400-600hz phone. Then the Bionic.. Great phone, but not the best treatment from Verizon. But still a great phone, probably the best, I don't really think I have any need to root it, either.

-Edit-
I can't imagine you needing help with a bricked phone, with everything you've achieved and done for us!

And your willingness to support EVERYONE is what makes you such an amazing person. If your answers are not popular, it means the person asking probably should not be messing with stuff to begin with. At least YOUR support doesn't start with "Well, first you need to do a factory reset........" - that's the type of support I get EVERYTIME I call Verizon about something. One time I had a Blackberry Storm with a F'ed up "surepress" screen, and they tried to tell me a data wipe would fix it. I got into a lengthy argument about how a data wipe was NOT going to fix an issue that had to do with Torx screws and a messed up screen.

Not gonna lie...I was intimidated by the HOB which was a big reason I stayed on .232 for a while. I never have used a piece of software made by a member of a community to do something as extensive as what the HOB provides....especially to something I NEED to be able to depend on daily... It seemed too easy...make sense? I am sure that I overcomplicated and over thought how the scripts were written...until a discussion you were having with me in the .244 thread , (at least I think it was me) where you kinda explained how you were able to make a mini-fxz by using part of the .905 img (I think that was what you said) and with all of the successful updates others had.. at that point I realized you had basically created a very useful and well made program. I have used plenty of community made Mod tools for Simcity4 , that's about all that is available (another story for another day) and if it crashed my computer It would piss me off,but I could at least fix my computer rather easily.. my phone...not so easy.

My first VZW phones were the Moto v710, e815, and v3m RAZR. Aside from the typical Verizon BS (remember the v710 bluetooth debacle, or the HORRIBLE Flash-based v3m OS?) they were rock solid devices. I then "suffered" through a Samsung Flipshot, some LG flip phone, an LG Voyager, and finally a Blackberry Storm. Then, I went back to Moto with the OG Droid and was once again happy. For a short while, I had the iPhone 4, which I must admit was also a solid phone. After that, I got the Bionic and was actually totally happy once again. I won't even get into the crap prepaid phones I had prior to the v710.

It's called the "cheesecake factory". I learned how to do it after I was already on ICS. Someone on 905 can look for any update for any phone for any version....if they know how. :)
