With all the issues the Galaxy Nexus is having, why is it being proclaimed the best?

The thing is like a batman beacon, you can't be serious or maybe you have a faulty one.

I have Light Flow installed on the RAZR so I just went ahead and compared it like that.

On the G Nex...or my G Nex...it starts softer, it gets the brightest at the top of the flash, then gets softer again before it goes away. On the RAZR...its at its brightest during the entire flash. Thats probably why I said that. It may be that way on the DX1 too. I dont have Light Flow installed on the DX1 tho.

I shoulda worded it differently the first time...I shoulda said I was comparing it to another phone. I do like that its bigger on the G Nex. On the G Nex I have...you can notice the differences side by side with the RAZR I have.

On the RAZR, it flashes quicker. On the G Nex the flash stays longer. I have Light Flow Lite on both. Its just a different way they both do notification lights. If the G Nex I have isnt faulty.

Whats wild is I was testing calls...I hit the speaker or mute button on the G Nex and it just cut off. Had to turn the phone back on. Right before that happened the battery seemed to charge up extremely fast. So there could be something up with the G Nex I have or the battery. I'm getting prompted for an update....dont wanna do that just yet. This could be what the OP is getting at. Although all phones can have bad batches, I understand. And this is a brand new OS for Android phones. Its radically new compared to what was on Android phones before. I ordered mine 12-30, it came today. Guess I lucked up with my Droid 1, Droid X1 and RAZR so far.

To the OP....some sites proclaimed the RAZR as the best phone for 2011...like some proclaimed the G Nex the best for 2011. IMO....the RAZR, Rezound or G Nex shouldnt be on any best phones lists for 2011, they all just came out. Everyone that picks the phone they want will claim its the best. All you can do is ...if you can ....test them all out or test the one you want. If it works fine for you...its the best phone for you, to you.

I will try to stay out of any more G Nex posts as a owner, user until I spend more time with it. Coming from an OG Droid...its amazing. Coming from the Rezound or RAZR....its a lil more even playing field. The screen on the G Nex is very nice. Better than the RAZR's...when I hold them closer than normal. At...my...normal viewing distances...they are almost identical. They both have that blue tint when viewing off center. The RAZR looks whiter or brighter when looking straight on.

Still, I might have a faulty G Nex. If I do....quality control at Samsung was lax for this release.

Whatever cons any of these phones have....they all are the best....to whoever bought them and if they arent having too many issues with it. Again...ICS is very nice. I cant wait to see what HTC and Moto do with it and their custom UI's. Cuz say what you will...but Moto and HTC made GB alot better with their UI updates compared to stock GB.

Amazing pictures Caligula! Those are some of the best pictures I've seen taken with the Nexus. However, I too agree with Cardona and that it is not up the Rezound's camera quality. The quality on the Rezound is amazing. Now the Nexus camera is no slouch, but what is supposed to be a flagship device definitely could've come with a better camera, especially with what the SGII comes with, which also exceeds the Nexus' camera. Hate to say it, but the consensus is the camera could've been better. It's more than enough for me so I'm happy with it, and I know you are too, so that's all that matters.

These are good examples of comparison shots: http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Verizon-Galaxy-Nexus-vs-HTC-Rezound_id2938/page/3

Best is quite often a subjective thing. The Razr, Rezound, Nexus and even the Bionic are all on a pretty even field imo. Each have their own subjective pros and cons, there is no way to objectively say that the Nexus is leaps and bounds better than the rest. Just as there is no way to classify one of the others better than it, objectively. There are some things that can be objectively measured, and have some pros and cons that way. But still no device is the best in everything in that list either.

When picking a device, most people have to settle unfortunately. They need to figure out what their main wants and needs are, and figure out what device fits those the best. Physical keyboard vs lack of physical keyboard, how comfortable is the device to hold (a lot of folks still think the 4.3"+ phones are too big), locked vs unlocked, resolution of screen, quality of cameras, removable battery/storage..... If I were to imagine my realistic dream device, as in a device that doesn't have some fantasy billion core processor with a googol bytes of RAM (basically something that could conceivably be created today), it would be a little different than my Galaxy Nexus. I say this as a very happy Galaxy Nexus owner. But there are definitely folks that aren't sold on the GN for whatever reason(s), and prefer one of the other devices. As long as the person that buys the phone is happy it doesn't really matter which one other people say is the best.

Honestly, this is the best all around device. The Rezound/Razr/Bionic/top tier android phones are all nice, yet they all seem to lack the freedom and future proofing that the GNexus has. If you look back at the announced devices/available devices when a Nexus phone was launch, none of them were ground breaking with specs/features, they were all simply on par or somewhat better then what was out. This is a dev phone, its not a gimmicky "Oh look I has more Megahurtz den ur iPhones" type of device. Its simply a pure Google device with Top tier specs and amazing support backed by a great community.

I do like the Rezound and the Razr, but overall neither device has the functionality of the Nexus. If you listen to a lot of music and need to take super quality pics with your phone, the Rezound is for you. If you want a slim sleek, sexy phone thats locked down and limits you to MotoBlur, the Razr is for you.

Don't be so quick to write off the Galaxy Nexus because you feel your Facebook Pictures need to be at max resolution. Anything you need to shoot in a jam with a phone is probably not worthy of being a gigantic ultra high quality resolution photo. Ultimately, pick the phone that suits your needs and quit trying to ride the wagon, this is not an apple product, you don't have to buy it just to look cool (in your own eyes)

Just my .02 /endrant

When someone the "best phone" statement I don't put too much into it UNTIL I've used the phone myself. To me I'm the only one that's going to make the decision; of course based on some other facts. Reviews are just that. This "hardware" is pretty nice, I like the design and I really LOVE ICS. It still has issues and not completely clean YET but that's because it's new. I expect that. The data drop issues are also seen by other phones. Taking all of the software and network issues out. My only wishes now are better battery life and speakers. The battery just sucks on this phone but custom ROM has helped that greatly. The volume also sucks but Volume+ has helped that a bit.

I've gotten just about every bleeding edge phone released and I'm having fun with this one. Is it the "best" well for some it is and for others it's not. It's up to you to decide! For me I'm loving me some Nexus regardless of some of its issues.

Great pics. I have some pretty good pics I took with my Nexus as well. Outdoors in full daylight it tends to do fine. Anything not under sunlight is a different story though. And like dezymond said, the Nexus just can't touch the Rezound's camera. Indoors, outdoors and even macro, the color is spot-on and the clarity is amazing for a cell phone camera.

Case in point....

And a great indoor shot, in a dimly lit kitchen

I have to say though I'm very impressed with the Nexus camera. I have gotten some great pictures with it indoors/outdoor and low light. I wouldn't even have attempted those with the Bionic or any Moto phone for that matter. I do wonder how the quality actually is when you look at the photos on a computer or very closely. Let's face it I don't plan on making billboards with the pictures so I don't need anything that great... LOL. The outdoor pictures are fantastic though.

I haven't had a problem. The camera is amazing, the signal is a bit weak which should be solved in an update, it's not that big of deal. It is definitely the best phone I've used! :D

On vacation travelling up Cali. I live in Aug. GA and go to school in Greenville, SC.

From what I know about the Rezound there is no instant take which the Nexus has. This is unbelievably useful to me. I captured a pic at pebble beach where birds flew right on front of my camera because if this feature. I know the Mega pixels aren't there for macros or whatever but I would still rake this camera over others because of the phone it cones with.

I was simply referring to the guy which claimed I was talking BS about the Nexus camera and that everything turns out mush which was simply not true. Now I've never even held the rezound so I can't comment on it but I know I didn't want HTC Sense UI and am so thankful I do not have it and if I decide I want it one day... Ill just flash it!

A Nexus with no issues (which I have) is an unbelievable phone with infinite possibilities. Those that hold one of those are the ones arguing against those claiming it didn't live up to the hype ( and coincidentally most likely to NOT be on these forums ) Once you figure out the nuances of the camera it us beautiful tho. Ill leave you with that bird shot and a couple Vegas pics (where I was at before Cali)
