The majority of the millions of Droid owners aren't going to root their phone. While the common opinion here is to root, this forum is just a tiny sample of Droid users. Most people do not know what rooting is, won't understand how to do it, and will be easily scared off by the fact it voids your warranty. Do you really expect someone like an teenage girl wanting the flashy wallpaper and animations to comprehend what rooting is and how to do it?

Rooting is great but people on this forum need to realize the vast majority of Droid users - the common everyday person with smartphone - are NOT going to root their phone, let alone know what that even is.

To be honest, if I wasn't rooted and all pimped out (heh), I would be very upset about not having 2.1.

But, really, what does 2.1 bring to the table? A few nifty animations and stuff. Not a big deal. What they really need to do is optimize the OS,make it smoother, faster, and more stable.

We'll see what happens I guess. I'm not even paying attention to 2.1 other than seeing the daily posts here.

I would add to this that the majority of the 2 million or so Droid owners aren't even aware an update is even coming. I don't think this is as big a PR/Marketing blunder as some make it out to be. As another commenter stated, this forum and those posting on Facebook represent a very small sample of owners who likely frequent tech sites and are up to date with info. It will come.
