YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

Go into settings/storage and you should see how the storage is mapped :)

Should be info on sd card, media and internal device space. Or if like Droid X, the internal space will be all device storage. Thanks!

OK, keep in mind that I put my 16GB SD card from my Droid X into this phone (so I could keep all my pictures, music, etc.), it says "Internal phone storage - Available Space: 1.96GB"

Thanks!

This means 1.96gb free for device app storage. I prefer that to the Droid X, which uses it ALL for apps. Most big apps put data on the sd card anyways.

Thanks!

Good morning all,
Just for kicks and giggles take a look at *this* display. Could it be the Samsung Stealth i510?

Eh... personally, as soon as I saw the Samsung name and then heard AMOLED I wasn't impressed. Samsung has the absolute worst "stock" apps and widgets, and the AMOLED (though crisp) is way oversaturated on the colors.
Thanks for the poop JB. As you said previously it's a strictly subjective opinion. I like/love saturated colors. I wear "High Contrast Brown" sunglasses - deep blue skies and super-white clouds. :) IMHO, I'd rank displays as;
1. Apple Retina
2. Super AMOLED Plus (based on scanty info).
3. AMOLED
4. All the rest :)
BTW, couldn't I delete the Samsung apps and widgets and select my choices from the market? Oops - OT - no need to reply. Thanks again -

First let me say Thank You johnboy for all the info!

I think there maybe some confusion or something has changed that I missed. Could you post the "Internal Phone Storage, Total Space" That will be the built in memeory for pictures music etc. Then post the "Phone Memory, Total Space" This should be the the space for apps.

Thank you.

I figured about 5.42 gb of internal media space, considering 1.96gb for apps, out of 8gb.

Did I read correctly there is no option to turn off 4G and only use 3G? That could create a 3G/4G polling/toggle problem in some areas. Drain battery more in the process.

The TBolt doesn't break it down that much. It very literally states "Available space: 1.95GB" and there is nothing more to click, view, etc.

Hmmmm that's odd:confused: Well thanks for responding johnboy.

I am talking 'stock' Apps/Widgets. Samsung's Android 'flavor' is the worst I have experienced, and HTC Sense far outclasses even Motorola's Motoblur (and I own/love my Droid X).

OK, I installed an App called DiskUsage from the Market. Ran it on the "App Storage" (not the SD Card) and here is what it shows:

  • Data - 2955 MiB
  • Applications - 573 MiB
  • Free space 2381 MiB
  • NFS Shift - 99.7 MiB
  • Touchdown 26 MiB
  • Opera Mobile 20.4 MiB
There are a ton of others (all my aftermarket Applications/APKs) all under 20 "MiB" that I can't list (backgrounds, small apps, etc.) If you total up the major storage hogs, it looks like the 8GB of internal storage is dead on. The nearly 3GB of "Data" is likely for the OS and includes the Cache.

Big thanks to you from all of us anxiously waiting for the TB. If you could ping your VZ Rep, I have a question: What's her estimate for the Moto Droid Bionic? Rumors have it anywhere from April to end of June.

The longer the TB is delayed, the more I might wait for the Bionic.

Thanks!!

They are not sure... 99% of the time, I know more than they do, so whatever you hear is probably more reliable at this point.

BTW, the TBolt is not "Delayed," it is Coming Very Soon!

Thanks again Johnboy for all the information.. You have helped ease my mind at least and confirm the decision I have to make.. just wish we could hear something other then "very soon".. :) Oh well thats the way it goes.. I will just go and flash a new ROM on my D1 and hang out some more.. Any more info you want to share on the TB spec wise please do. I really like that I feel that I have had a good couple days with it myself just readin this thread.. :icon_ banana:

:)) I get it, officially, it can't be delayed if a release date isn't announced. But from my point of view, it's late. If I knew the Bionic would be out in April, I'd definitely wait for it. But if the Bionic is looking like June, then I'd rather snag a TB "very soon".

Could someone please check their crystal ball? I lost mine.

Thanks!

I too just finished all of the pages and thank you very much WorldOfJohnboy for the insight into the phone. I anxiously away the launch and will get mine at BB at lunch time.

I am a bit disappointed regarding the internal memory. I would prefer to have that storage available for apps, data etc and not have a section sliced out for apps. I know we can put apps on the card but still the issue I had with my DInc was the lack of app storage and 2GB just seems to fall short, not a deal breaker, just a disappointment.

If there is no real announcement early next week though I will cancel my pre-order at BB and work with my local rep at Verizon instead.

I keep all my apps (or at least a vast majority) on my internal storage rather than the SD card... If you move programs to the SD card, then the Widgets for the apps do not work. I learned that the hard way.
