YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

I too just finished all of the pages and thank you very much WorldOfJohnboy for the insight into the phone. I anxiously away the launch and will get mine at BB at lunch time.

I am a bit disappointed regarding the internal memory. I would prefer to have that storage available for apps, data etc and not have a section sliced out for apps. I know we can put apps on the card but still the issue I had with my DInc was the lack of app storage and 2GB just seems to fall short, not a deal breaker, just a disappointment.

If there is no real announcement early next week though I will cancel my pre-order at BB and work with my local rep at Verizon instead.
I imagine you may cancel your pre order but I don't believe they will return your $50. That's not a big deal because the BB $50 credit card you bought is good indefinitely.

Really? So Best Buy 1) Takes Pre-Orders a while ago, 2) Falsely posts a Release date and sends flyers, only to retract them. 3) Angers numerous potential TBolt buyers with all this stupidity and then 4) Won't refund said customers' money for an obvious FAIL?

WorldOfJohnboy,

Sorry if you already posted this (I've read this post from the very beginning and didn't see it), but can you tell us what came in the box? Thanks for all your help and great info!

Thanks for posting this thread Johnboy. It has been the one ray of sunshine in a long, dark line of Thunderbolt-related threads over the past few months. It keeps my hopes alive, and it has given me more information about the phone (outside of the spec sheets when finally released) than all other research combined (mostly speculation until now). I wish I was getting to play with the phone too!

I didn't really, but it was the Phone, USB cable, Battery, wall plug adapter, and some booklets (warranty info, etc.)

I joined specifically to Thank you for posting your info regarding your demo

I do have a question regarding if these apps are found on the ThunderBolt or not and if it can do the following:

Can the home screen be used in Landscape mode? (theres a widget that locks the orientation I think by default to portrait)

Does it have HTC Hub? HTC Likes? HTC Locations? HTC Maps?

HTC Hub = allows the phone to connect to htcsense.com

another question, when you click skins and do "get more" does it direct you to the sign up page for htcsense.com ? at the moment its the only way to sign up to register the phone since its not publicly available unless you have the phone in hand. I am able to use HTC Hub this way on my Incredible with a Z rom.

HTC Locations is HTC's premium navigation and POI's location app that uses TomTom maps and instant map viewing on the phone for navigation.

HTC Likes is featured Apps that HTC recommends, you can also use this to integrate your downloads into your htcsense.com account (it will allow the phone to auto download apps to the phone again if you ever have to format)

HTC Maps is the instant map viewer that loads instantly because the maps are stored on the phone rather than like Google, download in real time as they cache to the memory.

I know you answered the question regarding the kickstand but does the phone's body feel like its plastic or aluminum?

Does the ThunderBolt have any "special" sounds like the Droid phones do?

Thanks :)

Does HTC Locations or HTC Maps have turn by turn directions with voice? Does HTC Locations cache the maps like Google, or does it download them to the phone like HTC Maps? It sounds like HTC Maps should work when you don't have any Verizon coverage as the maps are already downloaded and won't require 3G to download any new maps if you go off course--is that correct? Thanks.

Thanks, Johnboy. I remember hearing another HTC phone (the Incredible maybe) came with a case and was hoping the Tbolt was the same. Looks like it's just the very bare essentials.

Best buy will refund your money, I took my card back after a week and was given 50 bucks in cash-it took 3 minutes...you purchased a pre-order not a gift card.

And thanks for the updates Johnboy, why did I choose now for getting my first Android phone...ugh

I just returned my pre-order/gift card today and they refunded me my $50. I decided I'd like to get this phone on a 1-year contract when it comes out but I'm having second thoughts since I'm hearing prices as high as $400 with a 1-year contract. Also I'm hearing some rumors now that Best Buy will have the phone a couple days before Verizon stores, possibly the 8th. Anyone have any input about the 1-year contract price and what exactly Best Buy's "exclusive rights" pertain to?

They are the Exclusive retailer to sell the phone. Meaning only Best Buy and VZW will sell it for a certain amount of time. There's a rumor that Best Buy will sell it before VZW but I doubt that. Take this information for what's it's worth. I'm not confirming anything. Just telling you what I've heard from Best Buy and others.

This is very nice. Specs are nice, but what's really good is feedback from hands on experience.

Thanks for sharing!

I don't think you want VZ or some crazy Tbolt fan knocking at your door or someone trying to do something...

Nice pics! I like your cat. She looks exactly like ours who recently passed...a Russian Blue

Or something like knocking on your door and stealing your cat. :P

That made me laugh, reading one message right after the other I had this mental image of cat abduction.

Yes!! I want his cat!! My other cat died a month ago and I'm watching ghost stories with my kids right now. Finally, someone figured me out

i just thought of another question! i hadn't seen it asked before either.. how is the vibration function? i had the og moto droid and the vibration on that phone was amazing! than went to the droid incredible and it wasn't as strong as the droid..how is the vibration on the thunderbolt?
