YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

The 1.95gb allocation you mentioned in the TB is a better amount, but would be nice to know where the other 5.6gb went ;)

If you read through my original post about all the programs I have, the full 8GB is accounted for. Data and Cache: 3GB, Free Space: 2.4GB, Core Apps: 600MB, and then I have ~2GB worth of installed apps from the market and/or APK. If my math is correct, there is your 8GB.

I can't seem to find this info anywhere... but with the kickstand out, can the phone stand vertically? If so, is it stable?

Yes it stands in both portrait and landscape modes. The Portrait mode is definitely less stable (understandably so, all that "top weight" standing on end), but you still have to hit it pretty hard to get it to fall over.

There are a couple YouTube videos that show it in Portrait mode with kickstand... one of the WireFly videos I know for sure does.

Awesome! Thank you so much!

Now I think I get it. You are an app hound like me perhaps and already have a bunch of stuff loaded... So the actual out of box app storage is like the Droid X- all 7.6gb for app space? That was the real question: Out of box storage allocations. Thanks!

Once we have confirmed ROOT on a the final product and firmware you can go into the ~2GB of installed apps and remove the bloatware, it might free up a couple hundred MB, depends on what's in there.

Thanks for the update on the unibody construction, having the aluminum frame with plastic exterior is fine the weight and structural rigidity is more critical.

looking good

So right now the phone works great and has no issues except for the skype video not working? Also we haven't confirmed that it will work over 4g. Everything else works fine and there seems to be no design or software flaws with the phone.

Do you have any DLNA devices at home? I'd love to see how will the streaming feature works like it does in some of the you tube videos i've soon.

On a side note . . .

I did go visit both my local Verizon store and ran into the manager who I typically buy my phones from and then went on to the BB store.

The latest he had was March 10th, he said it firmly three times, and he is also super anxious for the phone and the sales volume it will bring it. Nothing new, but just wanted to share.

Stopped at BB, and I returned my $50 pre-order GC and the $200 GC I purchased at the same time to lock my funds into the TB. The manager of the mobile dept was cool, apologetic about it and refunded both cards without issue. I will be buying from my Manager friend but since the BB manager doesn't know my name he could hardly remove me from the pre-order list. So I know there will be at least 1 unclaimed unit in that store for someone.

I was prepared for a bit of push back, but honestly I didn't get any at all. He understood, knows I have stopped many times and his last info " was the 3G/4G hand off issue where no 4G signal was killing the battery" and we all know that is supposedly resolved.

Of course with WorldOfJohnboy not having any toggle switches for 3G and 4G it concerns me that Verizon isn't giving us the ability to turn it off for battery conservation.

I haven't noticed any major issues with the phone. The "Friend Stream" app did force close on me a couple of times, but I rebooted shortly after and haven't seen that happen again.

I probably have DLNA stuff that I could use, but to be honest with you I have have three TVs over 30" large in my house, PS3, Blu-Ray, Netflix, and Vudu available on all three TVs, so I don't need DLNA. Truth be told, my Verizon FiOS handles the work of DLNA, so that is the true reason for my not using it... I can stream photos, music and video from my PC to my FiOS boxes/TVs, There is an Android Mobile Remote that also allows me to put photos on my TV as well, so I'm happily covered.

yea me 2, I just wanted to know if it worked on the phone like they keep saying it will in all the youtube videos I've seen. The phone does not have hdmi so how well the dlna works would be a big concern of mine. I'd like to know how easy it is to take a video or a picture with the phone and stream it to the tv directly. I'd also like to know if you could run the slingbox app and stream it to a tv. The phone was said to have dual video out, so you should be able to view the video on both screens at the same time, if DNLA allows you to stream slingbox.

Thanx again for all the posts man your answering all the questions that the sales guys can't right now.

If VZW ships the phone without the 4G toggle, I'm sure the dev community will provide us with one in short order. :)

I believe that it is aluminum unibody in the true sense of the word, not the MAC branded use of unibody. Unibody just implies that there is a internal frame that is integral to the construction of the unit. I believe that under that plastic there may be an aluminum frame that holds together all the bits and pieces into one unit.

I've never seen or held anything other than a cheap dummy unit in a store though so I can't say for sure just speculation.
The unibody is definitely metal. The plastic I was referring to is the outside cover/bezel. This phone is way too heavy to be internally made of plastic.
Thanks for the clarification--I guess I was misunderstanding the use of the term unibody. So, if I understand correctly now, nothing on the exterior of the phone is aluminum. That still bums me out. I still remember my old Moto v60c, which was a beautiful $400 aluminum exterior phone. Way cool at the time. Can't believe we paid so much for that phone when it first came out. Before I had kids and couldn't figure out how to spend all my disposable income, I guess.

You know, I was talking to my wife last night about the phone and how I wasn't sure how Verizon would feel about me talking about the phone so "freely." Considering I love the phone and you have all been saying how much this has somewhat calmed your fears and frustrations over the TBolt, I hope that Verizon would look upon this Thread with favor.

By the way, if any of you are on Twitter, you can Tweet me at: @TweetOfJohnboy if you have any questions, comments, etc. I haven't used my Twitter account much, but with Charlie Sheen and Howard Stern getting into the Twitter world, I have been following it much more!

There is a 4G toggle with Beautiful Widgets, although I don't know that it will work with LTE yet.
