YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

Johnboy I have a question to ask is how does the thunderbolt handle all internal memory and apps running in the background. Would you say it ultilizes the memory wisely then recovers quickly if the phone consumes to much and bounces back up. Does it just keep memory on the low side as more programs are running! Thank you for any info?

:)

Thanx again for all the posts man your answering all the questions that the sales guys can't right now.

You know, I was talking to my wife last night about the phone and how I wasn't sure how Verizon would feel about me talking about the phone so "freely." Considering I love the phone and you have all been saying how much this has somewhat calmed your fears and frustrations over the TBolt, I hope that Verizon would look upon this Thread with favor.

By the way, if any of you are on Twitter, you can Tweet me at: @TweetOfJohnboy if you have any questions, comments, etc. I haven't used my Twitter account much, but with Charlie Sheen and Howard Stern getting into the Twitter world, I have been following it much more!

cool, I'll have to check that out. So if ya get a sec I'd love to see if that DLNA works. thanx again man...

I have to admit, though I am an IT Guy and a self-proclaimed Geek, I am not on the up and up on all these Android internal storage/memory questions.

Do you have a free app that I could install that would get the answers you are asking about?

I don't see a DLNA icon in the App drawer, nor is it in any of the Settings.

EDIT: Just found something cool... If you go into the "Gallery" HTC App, on the bottom, you have a choice of Photos, Facebook, Flickr, and what I thought was Videos. Clicked on the Videos icon and it is actually a Windows Media Player connection. From there, I can connect to my Windows 7 PCs and browse Music, Videos, Pictures, and Playlists. I tested it by connecting to my main PC and I could browse all files with no issues! (Obviously you have to be connected to your home WiFi.) I checked my wife's HTC Incredible and her phone does not have this feature (Stock 2.2 OS).

Johnny, to start thanks for all your info, and to all the posters thanks for making this a positive experience.

Question on Memory - I have an OD1 that I have rooted which lets me store all apps on the memory card and I can run unlimited apps that don't run in the background, I have about 50-60 or so using less than 50 % . Brings me to my next part, I also have an Archos Tab that has 300 meg for programs, 8 gig internal, and an SD slot not unlike the TB. On my archos, it treats the internal 8 gig as \sd and calls the external sd as \sd\sd. I can only use external to store data, and not apps. Being I can't yet root I get memory full all the time on the archos. Finally here's my question, can you store apps on the external SD card? Will it let you run apps from the external SD ? How is it treating the 3 areas of memory ? Is the internal 8 gig available to run apps? That actually seems plenty. Much thanks again.

Man am I jealous. I have been waiting for this phone for a long time. I wonder if the battery problems were occurring with the 4g network.

from what I've seen you have to go to the media library and then there is an option to share. It should look like this...Just go to 3 mins mark in the video.

Lots of questions, most of which I cannot answer as it is above my head.... Yes, I can move apps to the SD Card and they will run. The 8GB internal is where I am sorry to say that I don't have the knowledge, but it looks like from my DiskUsage app, 5 of the 8Gigs internal storage is available to do what you want with it. (Though, about 2.4 Gigs of those 5 appears to be "bloatware.")

OK, got it... in the App Drawer, there is a "Connected Media" app/icon. You have 3 options (Music, Photos, Videos). After tapping one of those, the pop-up appears as it does in that YouTube video which is where you would choose any other DLNA devices that are connected (which I don't currently have any active or setup). If I can get to it tonight or tomorrow, I will see how well it works, but it seems fairly easy.

Thanx man, sorry for being a pain... now what is it going to take for you to go to a 4g area ;) If you can confirm that works, then me and a lot of others are sold on this phone.

Johnboy, any chance to check the camera quality and compare to the Droid X?? I'm not impressed with the X camera quality at all...

I did a quick compare last night, and the difference is minimal if at all. I believe they are the same specs, so it would make sense.

Very depressing information. I guess that's one thing the apple fanboys will have over me, the camera quality is superior.

Isn't that more so because of the instant processing and saturation settings that the iPhone has..?

1.5 hours away. If I had a reason to go there, I would, but with the high prices on gas (and getting higher), I don't have a compelling reason to do so. My wife is also about 3 months away from giving birth and I don't like to be too far away from her for too long of a time. It may help if I can convince her that we will stop at the Premium Outlet stores on the way home... I will see what she thinks.

I have used all three phones and don't think that any of them are really noticeably different than the others. The Thunderbolt has quite a few options and filters on the stock camera, so I think that gives the TBolt a bit of an advantage over the DX.

I imagine you may cancel your pre order but I don't believe they will return your $50. That's not a big deal because the BB $50 credit card you bought is good indefinitely.

Really? So Best Buy 1) Takes Pre-Orders a while ago, 2) Falsely posts a Release date and sends flyers, only to retract them. 3) Angers numerous potential TBolt buyers with all this stupidity and then 4) Won't refund said customers' money for an obvious FAIL?

Yes. I heard it's even possibly illegal to refund gift cards, at least in NJ. But on top of that they told me when I got my pre order gift card that I could return it if I wanted to...

Also wanted to say thank you VERY much for all this information! This is really the best and most comprehensive place to get information on the Thunderbolt that I've seen.. even in compared to actual video reviews on Youtube.

One thing I asked elsewhere but wanted to ask in here was if you could confirm if it can do flash games, specifically Pet Society from within Facebook?

I also own, and love the Droid X, but I've read in here and at other sites that some Droid Xs could handle it, others (like my own) can't. I wonder if that has anything to do with rooting the device vs going stock, but my Droid X only tries to load it and then after a while it ends with a question mark icon. I saw the benchmarks for the Thunderbolt and it scored 1500 something compared to the Droid Xs 1900 something number, so I figure trying to do something like this could help gauge exactly what that means in real life graphics processing.

One thing I wished the Thunderbolt had was an HDMI out, as I think the reason the Droid X may have a better benchmark score is because of the graphics processor needed to do that would likely have to be better.

Thanks again for this awesome information. Verizon/HTC/Best Buy really messed this up.. I was about to pass on the Thunderbolt (and will if they charge for more 4G) but this got me interested and even excited again. I hope they will have enough in stock the first day so I can get one being near the 10th on the list.
