YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

echo all the rest on the thanks... also good luck and best wishes with the baby...

My question:

Anything you don't like about the phone or wish was different/better?

The only thing that I really have to complain about is the location of the USB port on the phone. It is counter-active if you have the phone in landscape with the kickstand out. (I would envision myself watching movies while charging it, but the port prohibits that from happening.) The one other minor complaint would be a lack of a camera button on the right edge of the phone.

Hey JohnBoy, thanks for sharing your information with us.

My question: Are Skype video calls working?

I hope you don't mind re-answering this question if you have already (I don't want to scroll through 40 pages)...

Thanks.

HINT: At the top of each page of this thread, there is a "Search this thread" button... use that and search for it. Short answer is that Video Skype does not work on 3G or WiFi.

One thing I was also wondering was how the sound quality for music was via headphones and via the speaker. Seems really loud via the speaker in the demos at CES. But one thing that really bothers me with the Droid X is using standard headphones, like over the ear Sony ones, when I'd crank the volume up to up to one from the top volume setting or the top setting would hurt my ears. I listen to metal, but even so, I think without, since I also prefer Pandora, some other songs be they New Agy, Rock, Jrock, softer Rock, Ballads etc all hurt.. Im thinking part of it is the compressed sound, but still.. would you say the sound quality is any better in the Thunderbolt? I have Power Amp for stored music but it still doesn't remedy it.

Bigger Speaker = Better sound (in this case at least). I did mention a comparison somewhere around page 4 of this thread, LOL... seriously though, if you search the thread, you should find it.

Johnboy--how much have you gotten to mess with the customization? Wallpapers, themes, widgets, etc.?

There are 6 "Scenes" that came with this Demo phone. HTC, Social, Work, Play, Travel, and "Current Verizon" which is whatever you are using. They change the Weather/Clock widget, status bar color, background image, and menu color. on your homescreen. They are pretty decent, but more at the phone's release would be cool.

There are 21 HTC static Wallpapers that come with it, some pretty nice ones. I have a lot of wallpapers from all the ADW.Launcher so I have plenty of others to choose from. I believe it only comes with 1 Live HTC Wallpaper.

The "Skins" are very cool. They do what the Scenes do, however, in addition they also change the Contacts screen and the unlock screen. These come in: Wood, Slate, Metal, HTC, and Black Board (my favorite)

The Widgets I touched upon earlier in this thread (do a thread search). They are what make me love HTC Sense over Motorola and Samsung Android flavors.

Johnboy glad to see you are still answering questions sir. To answer your question on memory the eadiest way is in by going ino applications-running services- and you will have 2 sets of numbers one on the left in pink, followed a yellow stripe, followed to the right by another set of numbers. These numbers help guage memory on services running to see what is all running like ram on a computer.

Far as apps from the market to gauage the memory quckly at a glance some would be System Panel, a couple of dollars well worth it to some. Os monitor is more detail, would appear better more to a programmer who understand if they knew computer resources. Couple of others out there in the market.

If i may suggest one app Johnboy and in no way will I ever imply my own agenda on anyone is try Battery Monitor Widget. This one comes with some indepth info how the battery is utilizing battery juice. Thank you again sir for your time. Just one last question is how signal strength on the phone say like in a fair/low coverage area if have johnboy?

OK, rebooted the phone (which, BTW, if you press and hold the power button, you have the option to shut off the phone, toggle airplane mode, and reboot the phone), then followed this. It says in the colored bar:

Other: 77MB in 4 Avail: 216MB+209MB in 49

Thanks johnboy. Can you expand on the Widgets? My favorite is the clock/weather widget (the flipclock). What effects do changing the scenes have on this widget?

They are all there... in fact, there are 66 HTC widgets (about 20 are different clocks/weather) to choose from. If you do a thread search, I mentioned this earlier.

Changing the Scene changes the clock type... some have the flip clock, some have digital clocks, others analog hands, and my favorite is the Black Board one that writes the time in chalk "old school" style. ;)

Ahh, I see what you were saying now. Thanks.

I wanted to add my thank you to Johnboy for his time, effort and dedication in helping so many people learn about this phone. This thread has provided more information on the TB than from any source currently available.

If I may, one quick question John:

If you had to choose which feature of the TB that sets in apart in your own opinion, and what you personally like best about this device, what would it be?

Thanks so very much. After all your effort and hard work, I hope you can get some much deserved rest. ;)

Personally, I think John should ante up his paypal info.
I'd throw him a few bucks for gas and a dinner tab for him and his wife to travel to an LTE area to test :) :)
If just a handful of people threw him a few bones, he'd have more than enough to make it worth his while IMO.

Just throwing it out there.

"...throw him a few bucks..." Think about it.That suggestion is insulting.:frown: Do you feel the necessity to pay your friends for favors? Don't you understand that his wife is pregnant and he wants to stay close to home, family and familiar medical facilities? I think he's done enough. It's just a phone not the Ark of the Covenant. Should you decide to purchase the TB I'm sure you will be the first to post a revue ouf it's LTE performance even if it requires a major inconvenience.
