YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

I do remember seeing a video from the CES with some big-wig from Skype... he said that the first Android phone on Verizon to have Skype video call would be from HTC (and VZW showed a "rendering" of the Thunderbolt with Skype. The caveat is that I don't think anyone ever said the words "at launch."
They may not have used the exact words "at launch," but it was described as a key feature of the phone so that was clearly implied. See for example:

LTE Capable HTC ThunderBolt Enables Sharing at 4G Speeds with Features Including Integrated Skype mobile and DLNA Wireless Media Connectivity

LAS VEGAS and BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – ...

Taking advantage of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network and the intuitiveness of the HTC Sense user experience, HTC ThunderBolt is one of the first smartphones to integrate Skype mobile with video calling. Rather than relying on a standalone application, a Skype mobile with video call can be made as easily as a standard voice call – with features like presence icons that indicate the availability status of friends built into the standard contacts list. A front-facing camera enables simple video calling ...

There is nothing in that, or any other report that I saw the implied or made me assume that Skype was going to be at launch.

Regardless of all the Skype, Battery drain, etc. talk, I would rather we talk about the phone and what it does do... anyone have any other questions about the phone?

It is a SanDisk 32GB SD HC Class 4 card. Not sure what class it will take up to, but I think I remember one of the videos that "Bob" from WireFly posted he talked about it briefly.

Well, I like the fact that it has a set of hard keys at the bottom as well as a dedicated camera button. (Something about a touchscreen menu, home, back and search button just doesn't agree with me.)

I also like the fact that the DX has magnet-activated docks, even if they don't necessarily perform all that well at first. I also like the fact that the entire case/bezel is coated in silicone/rubber... it feels like a sturdier phone (though the TBolt feels better and smaller in my hand).

Native SWYPE changed my life (lol)... I will never get a phone that doesn't use SWYPE/SlideIT technology again!

Lastly, I have to say that the microphones on the DX do a great job picking up my voice as no one has ever had to ask me to speak up no matter how far away the phone is from my mouth (Up to ~7ft. at times).

I know you didn't ask, but my biggest peeve with the DX is the integration of the Social Networking app with my Contact pictures... I have called, emailed, submitted comments, etc. to Motorola to fix it but no matter what, whenever someone changes their Profile picture on Facebook or Twitter, their picture in my list of contacts does not update. The only way to "fix" that is to remove then re-add your Facebook account to the native Social Networking app.

Still not sure what that means, and I am a computer nerd... what is "whole set"

Instead of the phone turning itself off; the phone only restarts the android OS.

I haven't noticed a hot boot... there is a restart option when holding the power/sleep button though. It restarts the entire phone though.

The hot boot option is under settings, battery I believe. I just had the htc training for thunderbolt. When selected, hot boot will allow boot times around 2 to 5 seconds. When you power off while hot boot is selected, its actually more a sleep/hibernate mode. Much like the bb standby

Under Settings>Power, there is a "Fast Boot" which I have turned on and always have. (Description says "Turn off to use some Market apps") I have not noticed it boot any faster. Will take it off and see if it is noticeably slower.

EDIT: Ok, so I was wrong, lol. Took off fast boot and selected "Shut Down" from the power menu. Power on took about 20+ seconds to boot up. Re-enabled Fast Boot, selected "Shut Down" Power on took less than 10 seconds.

My issue was that I was selecting "RESTART" instead of "Shut Down." Under Restart, it says "Close all apps and restart phone."
DUH, WINNING!

Verizon has accessories for the phone already. That's another reason people are confused why the phone isn't out yet. I got a phone charger for my home and car set aside for me. All I need is the phone and I am good to go. They might be universial and not say thunderbolt on them but they match up with the ports on the phone.

Uhh, no it doesn't work like that... Micro USB phone/home chargers are "universal" accessories so that any phone with a Micro USB port on it can be charged with your accessories. (Blackberrys, Androids, Windows 7, etc.)

Go to verizonwireless.com, click on "Accessories" and when that page appears click 'Choose Phone' in the upper left. Try and find the Thunderbolt. When the phone appears there, then you can say that they are officially selling Thunderbolt accessories.

Verizon does/did offer Thunderbolt accessories. A few weeks ago, they already had cases with space for the kickstand cut out.

Some of you are wrong about H-Boot, what it does is tells you a few things about the software on the HTC phones. Johnboy try powering the phone down when you have a spare time, then push volume down and then power button at the same time then release both buttons once it powers up.

What this does is tell you your radios and software information. Also other info, but can't get into that right at the moment, depends on if johnboy feels like anwering questions on this part of the phone.

Hey, like all the others before me here, thanks for helping us keep our sanity. On the car dock thing, in your app drawer, is there one called Car Panel? I know it's not an app that opens automatically when you place it in a dock (you have to select it), but that is there correct?

App Drawer>All Apps: No "Car Panel."

I downloaded Car home (Beta) and I'm very impressed with it.. It is the solution for the HTC Thunderbolt in car mode. Granted it is not automatically ran when you car dock it, however an aftermarket car mount and this app will make it work for the Thunderbolt.. I too was looking at the Bionic for my new phone, and Johnboy has changed my outlook on it too. Kudos to Johnboy! Thank you. Some of wish it could be a little more verbose, but you're doing a fine job in answering our never ending questions...

I don't really want to do anything else then that, as it gives me bootloader options, etc, and since this isn't my phone, I don't want to brick it!

So, the right-angle USB cable arrived today. I have tested it out, and though it isn't 100% perfect, it does allow you to charge and use the kickstand in landscape mode. Also, because it is a "left" angle, when I put the phone in portrait mode with the kickstand, the cable actually adds extra stability!
