YEAH baby! My Demo will be here today!

I wouldn't say that I missed you point, just that I respectufully disagree with it.

So it is your contention that a single-core processor, etc. can't handle 4G LTE... well, to me, that is like me saying that my single-core computer running Linux can't handle a Gigabit Ethernet connection and I should just stick with my 100 MB connection.

It is my point of view that the good software (HTC Sense) doesn't need to run on a dual-core system as it is well designed. Those that are caught up on the dual-core Bionic are going to be stuck with the realization that you have a v8 Hemi engine in your Dodge Neon, meanwhile those with the TBolt will be passing you on the racetrack with their Audi A7.
Johnnoy don't misinterpret my words and think I want to make this into a bionic is better than TB etc etc or HTC is terrible. Somebody brought up the fact that LG and Samsung will have single core 4G phones as well. Those devices will have the same challenges.

I will also say that the Dual Cores will have the same challenges but they will be ahead of the curve because of the obvious advantages. Tweaking the software around that type of platform does have its advantages.

So again Im NOT saying the TB is junk or worthless im just saying for an LTE device the hardware is just not there and they have a pretty tough hill to climb. It would have been a great 3G phone in my opinion and they should have left it that way.

I don't want this conversation to turn into a bash fest. We should be able to talk about a problem openly. This is not about HTC this is about a hardware decision made by the geniuses at Verizon.

Fair enough, no bashing of the different phones and I apologize for thinking you had a man-crush on the Bionic. :)

The reason why they will face the same challanges has absolutely ZERO to do with the processor, it has Everything to do with the 4G Radio and the LTE Network. This I know for a fact... I've been in the IT business for 15+ years now. I could throw out an example of what I mean, but basically, both the dual-core and single-core devices will be able to surf the web, download files, view YouTube videos, etc. at the same Download/Upload speeds as they will all be connected at the same 4G speed.

Understood... I think in that respect, all of the LTE smartphones have the same hills to climb and challenges to face (and it sounds like you agree there). We just disagree on the Processor having anything to do with those challenges.

I honestly think that the Bionic may have an advantage to some extent the longer they hold off... they can sit back and see what happens to the TBolt and correct all the downfalls (Ex. - Make a better battery come stock with the phone) to have a better performing phone at release than the TBolt.

im just saying for an LTE device the hardware is just not there...

based on the crumbs scattered about by the testers, it seems the TB is more than powerful enough to perform well as an LTE device once everything is in alignment with the network and phone.

as someone very interested in getting the TB, and your word carrying a lot of weight on these forums, what information do you have or what makes you think the TB is too underpowered to be a good LTE device?

This is not about HTC this is about a hardware decision made by the geniuses at Verizon.

this is confusing. what is the hardware decision VZW made that is causing the TB to have issues on their LTE network?

WorldOfJohnboy....come on out to Rochester and give that LTE a try...I'll buy you a garbage plate....I would have said Dino BBQ but since I'm from 'Cuse as well I am well aware you have one as well....

I've been waiting for this phone just as long as the next guy...and I'll keep waiting as patiently as I can...I spoke with my corporate verizon rep yesterday and he "thinks" it should be out by the end of the month. Told me there is a lot of "buzz" around the office about it and they got trained on it a couple weeks ago. So I guess we take it for what it's worth!

So, getting this thread back on track, I noticed today two "random" things:

1) The Micro USB port on the phone is upside down compared to my Droid X's port. The "right angle" cable I got is actually "left angle" on the TBolt.

2) Just thought of another thing I love about my DX and will miss going to the TBolt: The "Silence Phone" slider on the lock screen. If I forget to set my DX to vibrate, I just tap the power button and slide from right-to-left and it puts the phone in vibrate mode. With the TBolt, you have to tap the power button, slide down the unlock bar, then hit the volume rocker.

Meh, I am already used to that on my Samsung Rouge, lol

Sorry JB. I took your advice, after the fact, and did a search on "angle." Behold! I found the answer to my question in your previous post. From now on I will heed your advice and search before I post. :icon_ peace:

Hemi

I like all this talk about hemi V8 Chargers :) I've had mine since 05 and love it to death. So the thunderbolt could be the dodge charger of phones huh? I knew there was a reason i wanted one so bad ;)

I want a 1969 Charger in Matte Black. If the DF community wanted to pool funds together as a "thank you" for this thread, I would not decline that gift... :icon_ rofl:

I'd stay with something like the Audi you mentioned earlier. Unless you are not in to cornering or stopping!

New news - Could be GOOD!

I just called my Verizon rep to ask about activating my enVTouch to use until I could find a reasonably priced DX. The lowered her voice to a conspiratorial level and whispered "Don't do that Ed. Thunderbolt accessories are coming in so we should be getting the phone soon." :icon_ banana:
