z4Root - One Step Rooting for Many Android Devices!!

Just root, then install bootstrap.

All rooting does is gets you access to system files.

I can understand your concern doing the root process, I was the same way.

I don't recall seeing a thread of someone bricking their phone during root. The people that figure this out have it down to a science.

Its what you do after that you need to be concerned with. Once you get root and bootstrap installed-then get a backup through clockwork. Then right before you try anything else, do a backup then try the mod. If it works your set, if not then restore your backup.

I used temporary root and it says my phone is not rooted. Should I use permanent root? It says there's an update for the su binary and it won't update automatically, am I suppose to rename it to update.zip and install in recovery?

Did you fix the alternate recovery image in memory? If not it doesn't matter because it won't stay.

But in case you did I have to ask -- ROM Manager? If so, no idea. If you did it manually it'd be in the download folder. Please note, it's download not downloads. Yes, it makes a difference. Also, if it's SPRecovery did you rename it update.zip? You'll need to do that.

Maybe you need to do a little more reading before you start flashing ROMs? :) If I'm way off, my apologies. If not, try looking at the link in my signature directly related to ROMing your D1.

I'm assuming it's a D1 since you're trying to flash a D1 ROM onto it...

did the permanent root and worked super flawlessly. does not work to unroot otherwise rooted devices. so unroot your current then root with this one and you can switch back and forth. thanks for all the efforts by everyone to get to this step. much easier then typing in terminal every time.

so ru using z4root? if so y are you even deplugging or anything i dont understand you just download the app and click root you dont hook it up to a comp or anything

I used it and it worked great. Very easy and worked flawlessly. I've never done this stuff before but it is fun. Just added Bugless Beast for my Rom and am figureing all this stuff out. Thanks to the dev for zz4root. Made things much easier.

make sure you make backups before roms and themes so you have a place to restore to when something just doesn't go right ......
