Don't forget that after shortly comes "the release is here", then after that its "TBD" Its a viscious cycle!
Because you keep typing "I haven't got it yet" every other post. We know you haven't received it yet, no one has. How about unless you have a pic showing you have it post that.
And them saying we will get it soon is just as informative as it saying "flash will be available for android soon by the first quarter of 2010". I will not hold my breathe; we will just have to wait until it actually happens.

Seriously - I instituted a live chat to acquire an replacement battery cover that I lost a couple of days ago - and the person I chatted with confirmed this "soon" status! See my attached screen shot for an honest, truthful and straight from the horses mouth verification that 2.1 is coming! :happy:
I too chatted with Motorola today. I put a transcript of our conversation on my blog. A Life with Android if you are interested in reading it.
I'm still enjoying 2.0.1. I had an Samsung Epix with winmo 6.1 that was supposed to be updated to 6.5 in Febuary, now it's pushed back to April with a possibility of not even receiving 6.5. Now winmo 6.1 is an OS that DESPERATELY needs work and I understand all the anger and frustration that people were having (including myself)...but Android 2.0.1 is 28340923984509238 times better than what I had.

I had the samsung omnia with winmo 6.1 and it was horrible. Microsoft can not make Mobile OS for nothing. It is such an unstructured OS. I can not believe mobile carriers are still selling WinMo phones. IM sure Android 1.0 is better then WinMO 6.1 and 6.5.
Well, just got off a chat with an employee from Motorola... she was surprisingly more helpful than Verizon... go figure... She had said that the last notification that they received about the updates was last week and that the generic answer is the one everyone has obviously been getting. "It is expected that the broader phased rollout to all DROID users will begin shortly thereafter—we will keep you posted" I then asked if that notification was received recently or last week with the initial rollout... She said last week... I have a feeling even the employees are in the dark so nothing slips out. She said all she's done all day is take chat sessions with DROID owners...

i'm STILL waiting on my hubby to get that backyard raked while he's still home...which he said he'd do "soon" a month ago!!!

I went to the Verizon store today and casually asked if the 2.1 is expected to improve call quality for those users experiencing problems. I was given two answers: "Definitely" and "No", with the latter given by a manager.
Who's in charge of disseminating information to the stores? Seems like they have no idea what's going on when it comes to the Droid, but perhaps it's just my location. I left without gaining anything helpful and wondering if Motorola is who I should be speaking with?

Ok guys, here is the info: I've just spent the last 4 hours contacting Motorola rep after Motorola rep and Verizon rep after Verizon rep. What I learned from all the conversations is that the update has not come out yet, but will be coming out soon!

They told me to sit here with my phone with my finger ready to push the accept the update button so that I could be one of the first to get it if it comes to my phone. After contacting them so many times they told me to keep my phone in my hand and be very ready to hit the button, and not miss it by contacting them till after I get it.
My arm is getting sore and my finger is starting to shake from being on constant alert.

Reps are only told what they need to know. The rest is speculation.
Especially after the leaks that has gotten them in trouble already. After having leaks saying that 2.1 will be ready at such and such date and not fulfilling (now a couple were vzw doing) it makes the company look bad. Keep everything zipped up tight until it is a 100% go.
