On Motorola's forums they said they would post when testing was finished and it was released so I don't know why there are any rumors or questions around it.

No? They did not.

"The Android 2.1 upgrade for DROID by Motorola is being deployed to a small number of Verizon Wireless test users tomorrow afternoon. It is expected that the broader phased rollout to all DROID users will begin shortly thereafter—we will keep you posted. A list of enhancements included in the upgrade is available here."

thats the latest info. testing has been done for weeks. this is old news.

Ok well there was a rollout issued last week. So why wasn't there an email sent, and the thread closed and re-open. There are plenty of questions and ZERO answers.

The reason the thread stays open is if we closed it we'd have 50 more 2.1 threads pop up.:)

so what do people think of the whole "today" thing? i personally think its all rubbish. Kellex at droid-life asked if it was wednesday and Leandro said Yes, .... whatever.
Well if you notice Kellex just threw Weds out there and Leandro didn't even bother reading it. Leandro was just responding to the roll-outs after the initial release when he said yes.

It's not being released today.

I noticed that as well. Kellex misunderstood what Leandro was saying. Folks, there is way too much "reading between the lines" with this whole 2.1 update.

Out here in "Droid Land" everyone is looking for either the conspiracy, or trying to uncover the "secret", or parsing every word that comes from a rep from either company, looking for the hidden meaning. The facts are in plain sight, and there are those who choose not to see them. For all of their hard work, and patience, the Moto, and VZW reps have got to be fed up with questions about 2.1. They know about as much as we do, or, if they do know more, they are not telling us.

Ok, now that DOES make sense... i was preemptively thinking that if they knew it was going to roll out that they could close it thinking there would be no problems... its like they knew it wasn't going out... regardless of what was announced last week...

Exactly. Like i said before. This is not even about the update and what it has. it is the simple fact that these companies are failing to deliver this update especially when Moto pushes it to the foreign Milestones. That pretty much rules out failure on Moto's end. And i doubt its "bitfone" too. Seems like a scapegoat to me...

Verizon.... I lost faith in you

Actually, I think it is the Bitfone thing. It is about the only thing that makes sense. As far as the foreign Milestones go, they probably don't have the distribution problems overseas that they are having here, for whatever reason. I would imagine if the updates are being pushed overseas without any issues, they are using companies based over there, and not one based here. An OTA transmitted from over here, isn't going to reach overseas.

I still think we are going to be waiting at least another week.

This has absolutely ZERO to do with uncovering a secret. We're not trying to find out who killed Kennedy. We pay Verizon for a SERVICE. we pay their paychecks with our monthly access fees and plans and to not have ANY kind of communication when it comes to something that would benefit the consumer MOST people would feel its their right to know. We already know they AREN'T telling us anything. THAT is the problem to ME as a CUSTOMER.

What I meant was, that since we are not being told (and it is irritating to me too) there are those who are looking for something other than what is there. You are right, we are paying for a service, and so far, Verizon is providing that service. The update was developed to enhance the device we have, our devices, for the most part, are working well without it. However, that being said, the update has been finished, and VZW and Moto have been saying for some time now that Droid gets 2.1, three times (or two, if you don't count Jan 22nd) they said the update was coming, and it didn't. Right now, they at least owe us a reason as to why....

and you are right they most certainly are providing that service... point taken... I wouldn't expect a big business to abide by a code of ethics... and telling customers that a product is being sent out BEFORE it was sent for testing is not a proper way to conduct business... ANYWAY... back to the topic... Looks like we just... wait... Have a great day all... will check back tomorrow at 8am EST...
