I'm a little concerned about this, though:

My friend says live wallpapers eat her Nexus' battery for breakfast.

I remember reading a few months ago that this was a common problem. I might be wrong though. I never really looked into it because the "live wallpapers" didn't (and still doesn't) interest me.

BTW, why "live wallpaper?" Shouldn't it be "Window?" :) I mean, I've got wallpaper here in the room I'm sitting in, but if I want "live" I look out the window... Ooh look! A squirrel!!

I remember hearing it will install the update and unroot your phone. I have no proof to verify, but that's what was said.

Yeah if anything it will remove root. Ive switched back and forth the system from my nandroid backups and sometimes it will cause alot of FC's....haha most of the time so fast you cant close one before another pops up. I want to see if this is what happens. I flashed ESE53 and rooted it and made it 5 screens, overclocked, tether, etc........ (i dont use roms). But now im bored. This update will be a nice fresh start and if they blocked the exploit owell ill just flash the ESE53.sbf again and root it. Im excited!!!

hahaha so pretty much getting the update is going to be a complete downgrade from what i already have... Ultimate Droid 7.8 all the way and here to stay!!! :icon_ banana:

Actual letter that I saw posted on the front of a Verizon store window:

"Dear Verizon/Motorola,

Your a douche.

But not the kool-aid drinking, money grubbing, locked down, proprietary software/hardware kind like Apple is. No... there is a special place in hell for them... but your trying hard to get there.

Oh yeah, and you took all the cool stuff 2.1 was going to have and dumped it. Thanks for ruining my android experience.

Oh wait, if forgot. All the cool people on DroidForums picked up YOUR slack.

Thanks,

Pissed Off Share Holder

P.S. DroidMod Ownz! and SBF Unbricks!"

Dont know who posted it, but I think i saw a Verizon rep high five another guy after reading this.

Darn, wanted to edit my last post, don't see the option?

Anyways, in general, if the rollout begins on time, how soon before someone typically gets the update.zip to someone here for posting?

Well, you can say the same thing for AT&T for the f-up job they did with the backflip.

Dude
Personally its quite annoying to read this and everyone has to tell everyone how they don't care they are rooted, cool. Some people just want to hear about the update not which rom all you rooted guys are using. I guess I just am sick of all the rooted users knocking an exciting time. Can't wait for the update.

Dude you read my mind

Personally I'm really disappointed with the 2.1 OTA update they could have done a better JoB. All this wait for what ? eh....

However I am really happy that this is out better quality Droid Roms will be created ...ooooh Wait its happen already.

So before you get all butt hurt because some of us are responding that this OTA SUCKS and we are running better updates/roms NOW Well...ITS HONESTLY TRUE!

just change GOT IT to HAD IT and that's me. To all the stock users complaining about Rooted users. It's like that fable about the grapes that were too high. Musta been sour anyway!

This may be a noob question (so please be gentle), but... Will the OTA wipe all the apps from my phone? If so, can I just go back to the App Store to download them, or do I need to do a backup first?

About that... What backup software works best on an Android phone? As an ex Windows Mobile user, I always liked Sprite backup. I got it for Android when they were running their $0.99 special, but I haven't actually installed it yet. I'm mostly concerned with backing up app data... not so much the unchanged system data.
