Actual letter that I saw posted on the front of a Verizon store window:

"Dear Verizon/Motorola,

Your a douche.

But not the kool-aid drinking, money grubbing, locked down, proprietary software/hardware kind like Apple is. No... there is a special place in hell for them... but your trying hard to get there.

Oh yeah, and you took all the cool stuff 2.1 was going to have and dumped it. Thanks for ruining my android experience.

Oh wait, if forgot. All the cool people on DroidForums picked up YOUR slack.

Thanks,

Pissed Off Share Holder

P.S. DroidMod Ownz! and SBF Unbricks!"

Dont know who posted it, but I think i saw a Verizon rep high five another guy after reading this.

Do you guys really take the operating system of your mobile phone THIS seriously? You'd think Verizon personally screwed each of you out of a huge plot of land or tens of thousands of dollars. If you're a rooter, I don't know why you care about the update anyway. Obviously it doesn't benefit you in the slightest, and your rooted ROM setup does everything you want it to, so why worry / get angry?

Sure, the 2.1 update (on paper) isn't as amazing as it was hyped up to be, but the pinch-to-zoom browser and live wallpapers are a nice new addition for us, and the vast majority of OTHER Droid users who have lives and don't pay attention to internet Droid forums (unlike the rest of us ).

Yes we do take it seriously, until something new and shiny comes along to steal our attention. lol:blink:

I just wish I could move my personal emails to different folders, not just my GMAIL.

If that were the only change I'd be satisfied.

Im rooted. (Apologies to those that aren't.) And I will be staying with BB v.8 for now. I can deal with everything but the missing extra screens on the OTA. Guess that fancy N1 app drawer is never gonna happen.

First off, YeaBaby!
Second, Flash isn't really a OS update issue. Flash will more likley be a browser update or standalone browser plugin similar to Flash on a "Big System".

This may be a noob question (so please be gentle), but... Will the OTA wipe all the apps from my phone? If so, can I just go back to the App Store to download them, or do I need to do a backup first?

About that... What backup software works best on an Android phone? As an ex Windows Mobile user, I always liked Sprite backup. I got it for Android when they were running their $0.99 special, but I haven't actually installed it yet. I'm mostly concerned with backing up app data... not so much the unchanged system data.

You'll be fine its just like when the 2.0.1 update happened. All apps that you have bought/downloaded will still be there.

So, being new, have a question..with the ota coming, do we have to do anything special to our current setup. Currently just running helix launcher and basic widgets..

Thanks. I'm was relatively late to the party, so my phone came with 2.0.1. This will be my first OTA upgrade. On WinMo, you lost everything with an ROM Update. I'm happy to see that this isn't the case with Android phones. :icon_ banana:

Doesn't it seem like the five homescreens thing would have been a really easy addition to this update? I can't believe we are getting active wallpaper and not more homescreens.

I completely agree! At least I hear the Helix Launcher 2.1 works well and should more than take care of the lack of home screens. As an non root guy, I use Launcher++ on 2.0.1 and it works perfectly doing nothing but giving me more screens. I'm just excited about the phone running smoother with less hiccups.

The notification will just show up. You don't have to do a thing : )

Don't fill people's heads with the "you don't have to do anything" lie. I recall quite clearly from our many threads on the 2.0.1 OTA that you get the update faster by standing on the roof of your building, holding your phone up in the air, and hopping up and down. It gets you closer to the signal, you know.

whats this stuff about audio when unplugging? are they talking about how it stops playing when you unplug headphones? i hope that's not what its talking about taking out...

No, some phones disable the in-call mic when the headphones are unplugged, so you can't hear the phone ring or talk when making a call. My phone has done this a couple times. My phone also can also lose its ability to recognize audio files when headphones or an aux cord are unplugged. I hope this update fixes that as well.
