I've read many of these posts and in some ways it's pretty entertaining and funny. So many people so passionate over views that are completely incorrect. There are guys with Droidmod that think they are ahead of the 2.1 update... lol. There are even some that think others shouldn't be able to post their opinions. This place is a wonderful blend of misfits..

Nature of the beast; but as the clock winds down and the roll outs start more and more will accept it; especially if it is rootable..
I use them and they aren't really a battery hog, they take up about 3% of my battery. The only thing that I noticed that they do, is make scrolling on 2.1, about as laggy as 2.0.1. That's without overclocking.

I am very happy that the official 2.1 is coming at last. Thanks CK and everyone else who brought the good news.
Is it naive to hope that perhaps the code was rewritten to take advantage of the Droid's GPU? I'm sure LW is still a battery hog... but maybe not quite as much?
LW is probably one of the least appealing parts of the update to me - I want battery and radio performance tweaks and the lockscreen fix - but I hate to think the GPU isn't being taken advantage of.
I won't answer that but let you decide on patch day.

I really wanted the new 3d drawer and 5 screens, why we get live wallpapers and not these makes NO sense

lol jk of course. no but i mean they said it should be out first half. if the desire is only going to be in europe and asia by then... then it will be in the US most likely after the 1st half. which by then we are "TOLD" we will have flash.
i think flash would be awesome. but when i bought this phone i didnt even know flash would come with it eventually. just flash lite. i am happy with me droid as it is. 2.1 is great news. now there will be better roms and such that are built directly on the official OTA. but for now i will stick with the upcoming 2.1 until something catches me eye.
would it be naive to think this ota would overclock it to 1ghz?
only joking ofcourse..or is i? dum dum dummmmm

the thing is no where does it say we arent getting those things. i could easily see us getting 5 screens without the 3d app drawer. i personally dont like it.
Actually, it does. The 3D app drawer does not work right for phones that are designed to go into landscape on the home screen (aka when keyboard is open).
Clearly not the case for the N1.

um. every post on this forum is never on topic. it just wont happen. and actually flash is on topic. this is about 2.1 which is needed for flash.
