I actually have a question about the update....

If I am connected to Wi-Fi, will I get the update? Do I need to make sure I have wi-fi turned off so I get it OTA?

You can get it either by wifi of by 3G just have to have an active connectin via 1 or the other.

There is no need to remove Helix before the update.

I have seen some people comment that they are going to remove Helix (from stock Droid) before the update. I just got my seven screens all set up the way I want them after quite a bit of effort. Do you think that uninstalling Helix is a wise, if not essential, move? Why? Is there a way to somehow backup my Helix settings? Just want to be prepared. Thanks!

I can't forsee why that would be necessary.

Thanks, I thought as much but when I saw other people removing it I wanted to make sure.

With the existence of Helix I'm not sure that's a big deal anyways.

Yeah, I agree, but it would be nice to have it built in. I'm happy with Helix so far and its stability, but I think my battery has suffered a bit.

Ok, I just read through half this forum and haven't seen the answer to this yet... but if you're rooted are you able to wait a week or so after the update to unroot and receive it or do you have to get it when it comes out??? Might be a stupid question

If i do a nandroid back but, it will save everything even my txts right? Im have droid mod and want to go back to stock for the OTA but i dont want to lose any of my text or data.

Anyone know if this update will put the in-call and incoming call screens in landscape mode when the phone is in the car dock? Because right now as far as I can tell they're the only two screens of all the stock apps that don't rotate correctly when in car dock.

I really hope it's fixed

Just saw that this doesn't have the 3d drawer or the more screens. Which means that this update won't really do much for me, cause those are the options I was looking forward to the most. The rest of them I will probably never use.

You won't use better battery life, faster GUI responses, or the earphone jack bug fix?

Even though I'm unrooted, using xScope for my browser, 2.1's Gallery, Helix for my launcher, K-9 for my IMAP mail, and a bunch of other apps that surpass the functionality in nearly all of 2.0.1's apps, there's still useful stuff in 2.1.

Really the only question in my mind is when 2.1 will be rooted. I'm guessing it will eventually. Maybe even very quickly.

I mean, all new Droids from here on out are going to come with 2.1 pre-installed, I would imagine. It's in everyone's interest to get 2.1 rooted at some point...

I have had Helix running all day and it's taken so little battery power that it doesn't even show up as 1%.
