I did not install the Google Maps update was reading posts about forceclose issues. Is anyone having issues with the latest maps update????? :icon_eek:

Also was wondering how long it will take before the 2.1 update has Root capability. I have grown attached to the latest Black Droid version. Just wanted to get the latest stock version update then go back to Root. :icon_ banana:

It will be rooted when, and if it can. That's right I said if. I got to say that because until somebody does it no one knows. Probability however is high IMHO.

Sorry DJ, my bad as well, I discovered the 4.1 thread 2 sec after making mine here.

I had already looked at Labs, where it used to be an option, they brought it into the 4.1 update itself ... I'm bummed, but did email the dev's over there to ask it be made an option again. I can live with it for now, considering I have no choice! :)

HOWEVER, for those looking at the 2.1, the maps update now gives you a live wallpaper of maps (cell location used).

I know it's maps, but they had to know and test the LW in this new build, a prime example of something NO ONE knew was coming ...

Rooting the new release can be anyones guess....

Using maps all morning with the new update. No issues at all.

2.1 root will be out before everyone is updated!! The devs are awesome. 2.1 for milestone has already been rooted FYI

Which is another reason why I went back to stock without any fear of being limited. Actually it's kind of fun to be back at stock again.

I'd like to request that anyone thinking to post a joking "I just got the update" comment to read the following:

It wasn't funny when the first 20 people did it and it will not be funny when you do.

Not the answer. The "triangle" instead of the circle is standard in the new google map update.
Yeah, it looks like it's using the accelerometer to figure out which way you are pointing the phone.

But just think! The arrow shows you're always on the move.

Without trying to read thru 53 pages of posts. Has anyone stated or confirmed if you go back to stock and get the update and not be satisfied compared to the Ultimate Droid v7.8 (in my case), will I be able to re-root and go back to v7.8 with the new OS?
