2.1 ESE53 will be Official Release on the VZW Motorola Droid

That doesn't change the fact that the OTA schedule that shows how it will be released etc was VZW internal information, and not provided by Motorola.

Sorry, im sitting outside in the sun and misread that. Even so, i agree with you, but motorola has to have some influence don't they? I mean, if Moto's getting bad rep on this, couldn't they lean on verizon a bit to speed things up?
If it's a distribution problem their hands are tied. I'm sure nobody wanted/wants this to happen but it did.

So they work on building the infrastructure to handle the capacity and then push it out. Maybe just MAYBE they will beef up the roll-out to assuage the masses once they get it up and running.

In other words instead of rolling it out to only 9,000 w/ a 24 down period then pushing it to 250k more maybe they will just kick it out to 250k right out of the gates wait 24 and push another 250k updates and follow the schedule until the updates are all completed.

Might be a bit of wishful thinking here, CK, but ... who knows :)

Well I don't know if it's wishful thinking : )

I'm actually in no rush to get it. I'm fine as is (unrooted) on 2.0.1

I'm really just participating with the fine people here and just kicking out possible scenarios aka a giant load of speculation : )

Stop making sense - this forum is for the irrational.

Count me as one who doesn't understand how they contracted with a provider of delivery infrastructure that couldn't handle the job. This makes no sense to me whatsoever. It's not like they've never done an OTA update before.

Anyway, I too am happy with my stock 2.0.1 and will accept the 2.1 OTA whenever it is delivered.

Meanwhile, these threads are providing some entertainment.

Good point , 2.0.1 OTA worked .

IDk who said it, or even whether it was fact or fiction, but somebody said that 2.01 was hosted by google??

I'll be honest, I don't remember anymore with all the different threads I've read on this. I thought they did but I'm not certain anymore.

My common sense tells me it had to be Verizon. But I remember some distinct talk about how it was a Google product so Google was handling distribution.

You know, if VZW is waiting on the OTA update, then they're probably fixing something that was broken -- either the ROM itself or the distribution method.

Either way, they're doing it to avoid problems. I have a hard time seeing what the issue is with this. I'd rather have something that works later instead of broken now.

When we installed 2.0.1 manually we downloaded it from a google web address. I assume that means that is where the OTA people got it as well.

I realize the first thing that's going to happen is people are going to look at my post count here and scoff at what I'm about to say, but I have to say it anyway. I've been a lurker here since christmas when I got the phone, and I've gotten a lot of good info here. I'm still running the stock configuration, I had Home++ for a little while, but that was kind of buggy for me.

Since then I figured I'd wait for the update and hope for a certain few things I really want. If I'm not happy, that's when I'll think about rooting and all that good stuff, but until that happens I'll keep what they gave me and hope for the best with the update. Searching for any info on this update is nearly impossible. Everything you click on is full of conjecture and rumors. Also there's a lot of pure B.S.

A lot of you here are VERY knowledgeable with this system, but if you try to read this whole thread, it makes you want to slit your own throat lol. I clicked on a thread named "2.1 ESE53 will be Official Release on the VZW Motorola Droid " to find information. Alas, there is none. It's the same thing all over again. Someone says it's been delayed, someone says it hasn't. Some say the infrastructure to release it isn't up to par, some say that's false. So much energy is being wasted arguing moot points about the release, but I gotta say, that's also what makes the interwebs fun. I guess all I want to ask is, does anyone have any real concrete facts as to what the eff is going on? I mean, if anyone really knows exactly what the deal is, it was lost on me somewhere a long time ago in this thread.

<Flame suit on>

If you read the OP you know whats SUPPOSEDLY going on........

Translation.....nobody knows anything : )

That really is about the jist of what I've been realizing. I mean, you can read the press releases, then people are saying things that contradict it... That's what makes me waste most of my free time lol, wondering if they have some updated news somewhere that I haven't seen yet... then I'm off searching the dark crevises of the internet for an hour, 'till I realize I've just been on a wild goose chase lol. Oh well... I've been relatively patient this far, maybe with any luck I'll wake up one morning with an updated droid lol, then I can put all this update searching behind me and move on to the next biggest thing. Unfortunately it'll probably be another big thing that isn't important in the big picture, but keeps my attention for a while.
