Then you being a mod, that begs the question "Why is all that in there?" Would it be 125 pages if the mods cut all the junk- oh wait, then it would only be a page...unless of course someone feels we need to read all the whining and negativity. I sift through stuff like this hoping to glean little bits of useful information, but unfortunately it takes reading 10+ pages of people spewing garbage before you find something worth reading. Perhaps we should start an official complaint thread where you can't put anything but complaints, and that we we can keep the other threads clean and useful...

2.1 threads are a strange beast. There is nothing like them ANYWHERE with the exception of beta 5.0's and Blackberry's.

We have to give users a thread to vent their concerns, frustrations, scenarios, hypothesis, speculations, rants etc etc. or 2.1 threads start popping up everywhere.

So instead of having 30 of them we contain it to 1.

What can you say after you read "2.1 has been delayed for an unknown reason and the release is TBD"? The answer is nothing : )

Most people won't say "Ok" or "Shucks!! oh well"

No, it breaks out into something else because people are passionate about the subject. There should be a study done on why 2.1 makes people crazy : )

At any rate moderating 2.1 threads is a HUMONGOUS task and the replies come in so fast and often that there is no way to stop them. We'd have to shut down the thread after every post, review it. allow or disallow it, then reopen it and so on and so forth. As long as people are not attacking one another and using foul language we just have to let it go.

I for one will be EXTREMELY happy once 2.1 has finished rolling out then I won't have to deal with this : )

So again it's the nature of the beast. 2.1 and the Moto Droid will go down in history as the most controversial topic on DF's short lived history. Hopefully there will be no more updates after this lol.

Fair enough, I can see your points... And as for your last point, "Hopefully there will be no more updates after this lol." I can't see how there would be any. If I'm Motorola and catching all this flack from people who are impatient, etc. I would take my time to make sure this is bullet proof, then NEVER, EVER make another update and just walk away from this product aside from warranty of course, since this has done more to harm the reputation of the company than it did to show the progressive thinking of offering up such product updates in the first place. I for one am sad to see all the crap spewed because I was hoping this was the beginning of something special- a product that a company would support in a way to keep it current ala the iPhone. Perhaps I'm being pessimistic about this, but if your company was greeted with this type of [expletive deleted] while trying to add functionality to the product, would you waste your time to make an already sold product (for which you receive no further profit) better and perhaps greater than the iPhone? Or, would you just move on to the next product and spend your marketing money on something newer that doesn't have people complaining when you are trying to do something cool on their behalf? Apple does it because they have a stake in the media it plays and adding functionality adds profit, but aside from claiming the coolest device, there's nothing further in this for Motorola except bad publicity. For the rest of us who believe Moto has done a great job with this phone and hope they continue to support it, I fear this will be our last hurrah...

People were really anticipating 2.0.1, but IIRC it actually came out a few days earlier than we expected so it never quite got this bad.

I personally think apple has it right. Say nothing until the update is released. A Motorola employee opened his mouth and screwed it all up. There should be more updates in the future. Maybe from Google Verizon or Motorola.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. We are only a tiny fraction of users. The people who are even aware at the level we are represents a very small percentage of actual users.

The Droid has been a HUGE success for all 3 (Google/Moto/VZW) and they will continue to build on the brand with future iterations of the Moto Droid.

I believe Steve Jobs was right when he said that Google wants to take them down. VZW's drew the battle lines in the sand when they went after AT&T and the iPhone and they are using the Moto Droid as their weapon of choice in the ensuing battle that is yet to come. I'd be willing to bet the Droid 2 will be quite a remarkable piece of hardware that will carry the brand forward.

The money alone spent on marketing and advertising is unprecedented in VZW's history and lets not forget how much cash they are kicking out to use Lucas's "Droid" name. You don't do those types of things and then pack it and move on.

It's a long term investment for both Moto and VZW. They took a huge risk and it has payed off. They are not about to cut and run. Quite the opposite. They will turn up the heat.

This is about to get real good and we will benefit..........
