.215 ICS Leak

Simple question, I have down loaded both the leak and the revert back to 211. My question is "IF" JB comes out will I have to go back to 211 before upgrading if I choose to?

Thank You in Advance

Not positive on this one but personally I believe it would be a good idea to revert to .211 just to be safe.

.215 is a "leak" ... it's not something somebody came up with. It will come out as an OTA at some point, so yes, you will still be able to get an OTA without having to go back to .211 :)

ok so i just did the leak install and followed all the directions and so far everything seems to be good! i did go ahead and turn the phone back off and wipe the cache, i DID NOT do a FDR because i dont want to deal with all that if i dont have too lol..

im going to put this on my daughters phone this weekend when she comes home from college, since the ICS upgrade her service went to almost nothing, verizon even sent her a new maxx and still had an issue, she is in a "white spot" on the map, but she was getting good 3g before ICS, so hopefully this will fix her signal and her wifi (it wouldnt
connect to her campass wifi after the upgrade either)

ill let ya know how all that works out lol!dancedroid

Have you had her put it on CDMA only mode by dialing into *#*#4636#*#* ?

If not I would have her try that too, will save on battery life as well.

Once she dials that from her phone dialer and click on Phone Information and scroll down to preferred network and choose CDMA auto (prl).

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Hi Russell, thanks for that info and welcome to the forums. It is possible that your daughter is having problems connecting to 3g because with ICS, by default it has your phone on global network mode. Have her try changing it to LTE/CDMA mode or just 3g mode if she is in a 3g only area. To put her phone on 3g only she will have to install the LTE on/off app from the play store. It was originally designed for HTC but works fine with our Razr's. Once installed, she can open it, scroll to the drop down box and then select CDMA auto (PRL).

yea i tried, but she got frustrated easy lol so i fig id go through and do some things when she comes home this weekend. she has been down there a month and after a few days her service got good enough she could actually make calls.. im going to put the 215 leak on her phone when she gets here, and set it to cdma only, i have mine set to that because i have to go almost 30 miles to get a 4g lte area, and to be honest the 3g is plenty fast for me for now lol..

thanks for the welcome! i love my phone, all the guys at work have iphones, so i love telling them how my maxx runs 35 hours before i have to charge it!!! lol!

Oh Sydman beat me to it. His way also works to do the same exact thing. Thanks Sydman... great minds think alike, lol!

Looks like you got it covered Russell. Hard to fix something when your kids get frustrated. I have a son who is exactly like that.

A couple of things here guys and gals.

First, the temp, the omap processor in this device can get very very hot. But the device has built in programming that will shut the phone down for cool off if it gets too hot. The screen and battery are both monitored.

Second, As far as jelly bean... I wouldn't worry about that right now, its gonna be a little while.

Third, if you decide to do an fdr, do two. One right behind the other. This will insure a clean wipe, and a clean. Install. Hope this helps :)

Make sure you show her how to put it on 3G only mode because if you do a reboot it will put it back to the normal setting of Global. I say it will put her back but mine since going to the .215 stays on 3G only even if I do a hard reset but some people it is still reverting back, so just double check it for her.

Thanks for the info, my battery temp. has been up to 116 degrees but never shut down. Still worried it will damage my screen though.

Relieved that its not just my phone that gets a bit hot. I'm fully insured but I hate replacing phones.

a couple of weeks ago i left my phone in the car while we were at the lake, i went to check for any missed calls and i had a "high temp" warning saying that the screen and some programs had been disabled due to the heat. i scrolled to my temp meter and it read 123! i let it cool of on the way home and it went back to normal. no problems at all!

i have the lte toggle switch on my phone, and it switched back to global the first time i restarted my phone, but since then, even with the 215 leak i puton today it has stayed cmda only.. so far so good!

by the way, my 3g signal did get better, i dont know how big a difference it made, but my reading at the house used to be -81 to -84 and since the leak its running constantly in the low 70's even hit like -68 once! i know thats an improvement, just dont know if thats actually a big deal or a small jump in the range of signal. either way, im def putting it on my daugthers phone when i get my hands on it.

also she wasnt able to connect to her college wifi after the ICS upgrade. does the 215 leak help with this?

thank you all for the advice and input, i will def be hanging out here learning what i can!
