246 update on QA server now.

Well the one good tidbit is that the timeline blatantly states that the rollout WILL begin in Q4. In other words, it's not "Yeaahhh... We THINK we can get it out by then. Maybe...." But to me it sounds more like "YES!!! WE'RE EFFING DOING IT IN Q4! RAWRZ!"

I hope that's the case.

It's extremely complicated. You'd have to know how cheesecake works to understand how it's been fixed. The security of the server has not been compromised. Rather a weakness in how the update framework on our phones was exploited. Ics redoes the whole update framework and changes the security. Hole gone. Oh and did you notice the warnings about not being able to go back to GB... See where this is going? To suggest they aren't doing anything to fix the problem and therefore are intentionally leaking the updates is pure fantastical bs from people who don't have a clue how it even works. Ever wonder why if it's so insecure we have to do it from our phones? If the server security was wide open as people seem to believe, how come that is?

Thanks for the explanation. That's kind of what I was trying to figure out. But as I said before, I think that the ICS leaks have been a net positive. We can see that they are actively working on it. The alternative of having no leaks would really suck. We'd all be cursing at VZW and MM because we keep seeing our release date for the OTA slipping and just keep thinking they aren't putting significant resources to support our phone(as had been previously promised).

LOL. I keep telling my mom that if fusion power ever becomes a reality mankind's energy needs will be solved for quite a while. All this talk about wind, solar, etc will be for nothing. I'd REALLY like to see that in my lifetime, but at the present rate of advancement they'll be building the first plant around the time I retire. (I work in the Nuclear industry).

That's just it though. They COULD have put in there "Early Q4" in the update timetable. We were once "Early Q3" but they chose not to label it as such, so that tells me they are not very confident they can get it out early. Heck any time before Nov 15th (1/2 way point through Q4) could be called "Early Q4". They are leaving a LOT of room as if they truly don't know if they can get this done before then.

And so he is holding himself accountable, yes it is a nice gesture and all, but what does that mean really? If it doesn't roll out in Q4, he will issue a public apology on his G+ page, and ask for our patience as they will push it out in Q1 and he will hold himself personally responsible then too?

He also said he plans to update the thread monthly on the status. I really don't like to read into things, but I immediately thought "does this mean he's expecting this to go on for months to come?" I know I'm being a little pessimistic about it. It sounds like he wants what's best for the customer. But there's only so much that seems to be possible. The delays just keep coming....

I prefer Diablo 3, if anyone would like to join me in that. Got it on a desktop computer I built that has a clear acryllic case
and hooked up to a 48 inch TV through HDMI with 5.1 surround sound running on Ubuntu 12.04 through Wine with an
AMD Radeon HD 6770 1 GB card and I got the game running with a wireless OnLive game controller through bluetooth.

I was just thinking about the comments about VZW demanding Flash work. I got this crazy idea. What if VZW is demanding Flash work because all of their bloatware is written in Flash? That would explain their neurotic behavior towards getting Flash working.
