246 update on QA server now.

Honestly, I don't know everything involved with it, but based on what I know about software complexity, I imagine if they shut down our ability to get leaks, they would also shut down their ability to distribute the test builds to their testers. They can't upgrade the security of 905 without installing a patch, and they can't install a patch on their test devices and still be testing the upgrade path from 905.

Again, you're just asking a reasonable question, and I'm sorry I jumped at you for it.

It's all good :). If I were there, I'd just throw a PKI certification at the server. You want access right now, you'll need a PKI cert. If/When you need to later restore access to the "rest of the world" remove the PKI cert.

Motorola's official upgrade page has been updated this morning. Q4 is now stated as the new roll out period for the Bionic. I guess Punit Soni's post on his Google+ page was true with regards to updating the upgrade page soon.

Yeah, I guess the whole "plan" for the Bionic is to introduce ANOTHER absolutely needless delay. Seems like the same old bullcrap to me, nothing changed.

Well 246 is to be official an wont be pushed out for maybe a week or 2 which puts us in Q4 moto also has 248 an 252 in the works motos original plan is to push out 246 (just to get it out) an then patch with 248 an 252 but if VZW wants to be child then 248 will be ota an then patched with 252 an new 254 an if vzw again interferes 252 will be ota an then patched with 254 an a new 256 but if we get to 252 as being ota that will put us into late november early december unfortunately
So in other words, absolutely NO change over the BS we have been dealing with all this time. I thought the point of everything was to YANK control from VZW? What is this BS "if vzw again interferes"? I think this is the last straw. When I get a new phone, it will NOT be Moto, it will NOT run Android, and it will NOT be on Verizon. Moto/Google/VZW have had ample time to make things right. It's time to try an HTC Windows phone on AT&T, methinks.

Sadly, i'm looking at about 6 more months before I can AFFORD another device. I guess I have to keep reminding myself that despite the bull****, I actually DO like my Bionic on .24x

I guess I was thinking that Moto was gonna blindside VZW and give us .246 since it already seems to have been approved. If it has been approved, WTF is the delay? Yeah, good idea, let's give VZW ample time to pick apart the builds even more than they already have. Sadly, i'm thinking that i'll have long since moved on before this "plan" starts affecting devices.

Even if vzw approves it still takes time to push out the update 244 was approved about 2 weeks ago it was suppose to go out this weekend but look what happened vzw stepped in an that caused moto/google to retaliate so since 246 was approved this week ur looking at another week or 2 before its pushed which puts us in Q4 like the timeline states

That's what bothers me. It seems like VZW will KEEP getting away with this crap, and we will be in a perpetual state of "just another week or two". Pretty soon, the 18 month support window is gone, and the project gets dropped completely. And the Bionic ends up on 905 eternally.

Doesn't seem like Verizon had ANY issues whatsoever pushing ICS to the RAZR/D4 even if it wasn't fully functional. And now, to make the sting even worse, the freaking GNex has Jellybean. Even if we DO get ICS in the next few weeks, we're STILL stuck on an OS that is almost a year old.

Punit Soni did just post that the Q4 thing IS based on reality, and not on a pipe dream. He also responded to someone saying "Yeah Q4 could be December 31" by responding that Dec. 31 is NOT acceptable and that it will be WAY sooner than that. He ALSO states that if they do not meet this deadline, he will hold HIMSELF personally accountable. That is actually the strongest commitment I've seen thus far to a release date. It's just too bad that he couldn't narrow it down to something less than a 3 month timeframe.

I'm gonna see what next week brings, but if no OTA then it's off to 246 or whatever the highest safe HoB version is. I'm done with Moto, and not just because of the Q4 change, but because of everything that has happened with the Bionic. Barring some phone of the gods made by GOOGLE through Motorola, I am off to Samsung next, Note 2 looks mighty promising and they have some solid phones coming out next spring I'm sure. We might get some real edge to edge phones from them. And they update their phones in a reasonable manner.
