4.0.4 update zip!

that's how I understand it... when flashing radios, some older phone always end in .9 while newer ones always keep the .10.

guys think it's gotta be hardware difference.

I've been reading about everything I can since this update came out but I still can't seem to find a definite answer to my question.

If you are rooted and running a custom ROM (like Gummy) what needs to be done to successfully update?

Most seem to say rooted & unlocked but no custom ROM but some comments sound like others have updated while on custom ROMS.

Thanks!

If you are going to use the zip in the OP, you must be on 4.0.2 radios and boot loader. If you use P3 droid's method, then you don't have to be. Updating will likely break root for you though

I may consider getting the nexus again if they can fix the radio issues. Oh how I miss that big beautiful 720 screen!

So I loaded 4.0.4 fine and it works great for me. My data seems to be much better. However one "issue" i have found is that what ever ringtone I have selected when I get a call does not start playing at the beginning, it seems as if it starts a second or two back from the start. Anyone else have this issue, or had this issue and found a fix for it.
It does this with both stock and ringtones I loaded.

Moved from rooted stock 4.0.2. Its running perfect so far. The brightness issue seems to have been solved

Nice! Did you come from stock or a 403 rom?

Stock Rooted on 4.0.2. it was just nice that I didint have to wipe the data off my phone. It does feel a lot smoother, battery hasnt changed much but i was getting a good 8-10 hrs with moderate use anyways.

At least this way Im up to date and hopefully we start getting some kernels for this version in the next few days :)

I'm stock rooted with 4.0.2 also, so this sounds great. Did you have the 4.0.2 radios or 4.0.3?

Flashed it and I AM PLEASED

Curiousity got the best of me AGAIN so I flashed back to stock 4.0.2 , re-rooted, (both with WUGS) and flashed the 4.0.4 zip. Over all experience feels smoother and faster. I have a LOT better 4G reception. 4G was only available in one parking lot of my school campus before flashing(Lima Ohio). Today I walked ALL over the campus and had 2-3 bars of 4G everywhere I went. (A rather chilly experience for the sake of science:) .

I ran the speed test app whenever I saw a noticeable up or down of bars in 4G and was averaging around 11 megabit down & 7.5 megabit up. I was worried that this was just going to be a "more bars" fix but pre 4.0.4 flash IF I COULD GET A 4G signal at school the speeds were 1/3 of today's. I have not heard anything about if 3G was to be improved with this flash but I am seeing a better signal on that as well.

I can not say anything about the browser being any better or worse as I installed the chrome beta as soon as I flashed. I am liking it as well and prefer it greatly over the stock ICS browser. Battery appears to be lasting a little bit longer but mine seems to drain fast regardless.

Over all I am VERY pleased I took the time to flash 4.0.4!!

BTW does anyone know what the two triangle's in the signal bars are for? They are two little triangles that show up sometimes. (One is pointing up and the other is directly below it pointing down)
