yeah one of the main things i am worried about is people patching there own fxz files together with my method an calling it their work or trying to to do it haphazardly and end up bricking someones phone an pass the fault on to me even though i am not the one who improperly made the FXZ most people think just modifying the cdt will fix everything in the FXZ i have seen it all over the internet in the last few days the .902 update has been out an they brick there phone cuz the flash failed an they wonder why

Just a few questions before I attempt this. I'm currently on Purity Base, system version, 5.7.893.

1. I don't need to download the .902 update anymore, I can just use the OTA as stated in OP? I can skip step 8?
2. At the end of step 6, my phone will reboot normally so if I want to root, using the exploit, I use bionic bootstrap? Does it matter which file I use in step 7?

yes u can now just download the OTA because at the time the thread was created it was a soak test update 2. boot strap recovery has nothing to do with the rooting process if u have Flashed my FXZ boot strap recovery an root will be lost as stated in the OP. to root just download the file an run it like a normal rooting script on your computer with usb setting in charge only an usb debugging on in you settings an either file will work i just thought i would give a variety of scripts tehroot v1.1 is the most popular with over 200 downloads

The link in step 4 comes back with a 404 error. I just apply the root exploit with stock recovery, correct? And to get to stock recovery again, I do what? :blink:

i have updated the op thanks for letting me know an to apply the exploit just leave ur phone booted normally plug ur phone into the computer change ur usb setting to charge only on the phone then go to setting--> applications --> development an select us be debugging. then go to the folder were u unzipped the exploit on your computer an double click the batch file that say run an follow the instructions when the window pops up. u do not need to be in recovery to apply this exploit its a regular rooting script with the 4ever root hack included

u can run the exploit at any time as long as u do it before applying any update so make sure before u apply the .902 update u have run the exploit an have rooted/4everooted

I believe I'm only on .893 as it's just booted. I didn't enable usb debugging. how do I get to settings without signing in?

just set ur phone up like u normally would then go to the settings an then select usb debugging the important thing is to be root before applying the update setting up ur phone wont hurt anything plus u cant get to settings without setting up ur phone

I would like to take this time to thank all of the droid techies out there,,, after the 902 update lost root. Used RSD lite and was able flash back and then run the updates and root with one of the forever roots. For those out their who are stuck, I spent 6 hours trying to figure it out, but it is up and running with so many steps. ThX to the people who worked on the various ways, at some point this afternoon I tried them all to get my phone back from being close to death, got stuck on fastboot screen. Should have waited another day since then no root for 902 came out but that is hind sight for you.

my phone was bricked, tried everything else, RSD would never finish and error out on everything else I had tried (.CDT hell).

Your instructions and files fixed it first time.
