no unfortunately it wont cuz against popular belief the pushed OTA .893 update is actually the leaked one only difference is it has a system checker so u actually installed a leaked version but moto wont say that so now what u have to do is call verizon make up a good convincing story to get a replacement (ask for overnight shipping since its free) an then apply the .894 version that i posted when u get the new phone :biggrin:wooddale;]I got the 5.5.893 OTA thought it sucked so I did the Fasatboot restore made a backup now I am on 5.5.886 so my phone says can I get 5.8.894 or do I have to wait.

u are on the. 893 kernel/radio regardless what the system version says since u applied the update. An since there is a lockboot loader u can never return to true stock be uase of this. an its up to u on what u do but the. 894 update is by far better than the .893 updateSo let me ask you this what kernel and radio am I really on it says 5.5.886 on the phone. Shouls I try and go back and
do the OTA again or stay where I am at?

Right now in order for u to get the. 894 update u need a new bionic so yes do the replacment if u want the .894 update. Second prior to doing the. 894 update forever root the phone cuz the .894 update does retaim root. Third theres no point to going back to the. 893 update cuz it is a bad update an not the most recent its a qoute/unqoute relief update not a full on like the .894 that actually patches the android os. And not just the kernel/radio and some enhancements for data connectivity that the .893 doesSo Im on the 893 thats kinds what I thought so 893 is the key to this whole mess. the only way I can get 894 is to do the phone turn in deal. My camera still seems sucky is that because Im on Liberty Rom currently? I made a backup of rom when I went back to stock I checked and it said I could still get OTA I didnt take and it was still foreveroot what would happen If I went back again and excepted it would it just fail or make me loose root or is there no point? If Itried 894 it would just fail also. sorry for all the dumb questions trying to learn Thank you

I extremely doubt the update will be on the replacement cuz this update is still in the baby stages i just did a replacement since i have 2 bionics to get the other one on the .894 update an the system version was .886 on the replacement an i did this about 2 days agoI understand what you are saying but what if I get a new phone and its got the update then Im in the same place as I am now because from what you say because I took the update even though my phone doesnt say it I am on 5.5.893. What it sounds like to me they never had any intention of reaaeasing the OTA until when ever they had planned and all they did was put a fewe tweaks in to appease us. There just folowinf the plan they had all along sucks

its been almost three months since then so i am not worried but thanks for the heads up but hes right about the phone some times they do catch itnateohio;]Do this at your own risk. There have been instances of people getting billed 2-3 months after the fact for sending back rooted phones. Rooting DOES void your warranty and if you send it back rooted and they catch it, you WILL get billed the retail amount for a new phone.
The Sgt major may end up with a 1200 dollar cell phone bill
As far as unrooting goes, just use the releasedroot method to restore, I think it's option one.

lol 5 min wont tell you anything about the difference run it for about a week an u will see the difference. one of the differences is that the .893 still had data drops but not as noticible plus if u call on a 3g network and the data was suspended because u can t run both at the same time you would have to power cycle the phone in order to get data back. another is the cameras quality/performance/stability is by far better, third the battery life is increased but only by maybe another 2 hrs but every min counts right, fourth u can now host 10 devices instead of 8 on the bionic with .894 update, fifth no more disappearing apps, sixth overall better stability/performance i know there is more but cant think of them lol brain fartwooooowwe;]I am running 894.
