Ok to help and this goes for everyone, just saying "Installation Aborted" is not enough to troubleshoot the problem. You need to post the error message it will say something like "Assert failed apply_patch_check" and then in parentheses it tells what it failed on. So if you provide that information I can try and help you.

Yes so it is failing at checking your kernel. You kernel is not the stock 886 kernel. This means that you installed one of the 5.5.893, 5.6.893, 5.7.893, 5.8.894, leaks. Whatever you did to return to "stock" does not change the kernel only the system. There is no known way to downgrade the kernel to 886. Can you post what your kernel is?

Yes you might have to wait to get it pushed or manually check for it. If you are into rooting, I think you need to root before you take the upgrade. But I am not sure about that. I am stuck at 5.7.893 myself hoping that is the next update and I can be ready for the next update after that.

for this update to work u have to be barebone stock cuz of the size of the update an the fact that it not only patches the radio/kernel and battery like the ota 5.5.893 does but it patches the overall gingerbread OS apparently moto didnt make the OTA compatible with this version untill it is ready to be push (system checker during install) but i can say this the .894 update puts the .893 update in the dirt any day of the week cuz i have ran all the leaked updates an they cant compete with the .894 (p.s i did a warranty to get knew phone so i could apply the 5.894 when it wouldnt patch over the 5.7.893)

1885137[/URL]]The 5.8.894 update is the official last maintenance update before ICS rolls out to all bionic phones in late January if u have not updated to any leaked ota's u will receive the following updates in the following order before you get ICS ( 5.5.893--> 5.7.893--> 5.8.894--> ICS ). If you go the standard route with the updates via Verizon it will take at the latest 4 months to be fully updated to ICS. Due to the fact that moto is sending out updates in batches an not all in one wave so everyone gets it at the same time if u wish to skip the long route u must have a bare bone stock bionic an u can download the 5.8.894 update from here ( Blur_Version.5.5.886.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip ) an wait only a month and a half at the most before that sweet OS rolls out to your bionic. dancedroid

i have new info regarding the above post i just got off the phone with tier 3 tech floor manager (here is my resource route so u know how i got to talk to the manager) Rep--> tier 2 tech--> sprv--> escalated to teir 3 (they call you in 24 to 48 hrs after reviewing ur case u dont call them or transfer to them)--> tier 3 floor manager. He "Quote stated that the .894 update is the official update being pushed to all bionic user to fix software issues with the phone the 5.5.893 update has caused problems for bionic users (like we didnt know that already with the leaked version) an has been pulled and we are aware of the fact that if anyone applied the .893 update now can not apply the .894 an we are currently in the process fo rectifying the issue Unquote". so it looks like moto got themselves in a bit of a pickle an the .894 update is the official one. OH an the tier 3 floor manager said that the ICS OS has been created by moto they are just trying to figure out what day to release it lol what the heck moto release now an quite beating around the bush.
