I had trouble with this, Windows was being stupid. (provided your phone is in USB storage mode) go into the device properties, hardware tab, properties again, click change settings, switch to the driver tab, then update driver, browse my computer, let me pick, and select the USB drive one, NOT the MTP one which it was trying to install. Hope that makes sense, took me a while to figure this out.

Gapps is simply (Google apps) the market, flash it after flashing CM7 BUT BEFORE REBOOTING

I'm getting an error that my device driver software was not successfully installed.

I'm downloading MORE updates...we'll see if that works.

edit: updates installed...attempt #4 beginning now.

And fail. Installing the motoconnect drivers I found on the XDA DEV site. What a pain...

Just restarted after installing the motoconnect software from xdadev. Plugged the phone in, and the device driver install failed. Grr.
