7-7-10 [ROM] Froyo Kangerade 5.0.9 *source built, 9 themes, bug fixes, many features*

Great work again...runs super smooth! One issue I have encountered w/ this ROM is that I can no longer access the diagnostics menu (the one accessed by dialing ##PROGRAM). When I dial ##PROGRAM instead of prompting me for the password my phone tries to dial out and connect to the literal "##PROGRAM" number. Of course the call is intercepted by a verizon automated error message. Has anybody else encountered this behavior?

This is a normal occurrence on most any source built ROM. Simply Stunning has the issue also. The hidden programming menu is a Moto proprietary file/app and is not part of any source built ROM. The only source built I've ever seen it work on it Koush's builds of his 2.1 ROMs.

The reason it worked originally was because the ROMs were built off the leaked SBF file which obviously has the menu, kinda the same reason why the feature works on Pete's BB builds. FYI there is a thread in Chevyno1's ROM section discussing it as he is trying to look into how to get it to be part of source built ROMs.

AHA! Information. Much thanks. Not that I can help (or do anything but gripe!) but I am glad to know that those who know what they are doing are on the case.

I am already running 5.0.9. If I want to change themes, is there a better way of doing it than loading the entire 5.0.9 update? I hunted and can't find a file with just the Droid X for 5.0.9 theme in it.

Thanks

Thanks for the information...seems almost no question goes unanswered here. I guess the follow-up question would be: does anyone think the options in that menu are important enough to necessitate a means to change them? For example...if one were to want to change the voice encoding scheme to EVRC-B from the default EVRC on a motorola phone how could that be done? Custom motorola baseband file with EVRC-B selected as default???

Apparently many folks are have call quality issues with EVRC and changing to EVRC-B seems to help some...

No problem. Speaking for myself I see no reason to change it, but then again I have in the past and have noticed no difference between the 2 either.

A custom baseband more the likely would do the trick I would think but IMO is not worth the effort to make. It would be better/easier to just get the file back into custom source built ROMs so folks can just go in and change it like we are use to. However one thing to keep in mind is if someone has changed it already on a different or older ROM and they have not changed/flashed a baseband to it since the change you still have the same setting so there is nothing to worry about. The only way it can be changed under normal circumstances is by going into the hidden menu and changing it, or if you flashed a different baseband it would go to the default setting.

Unable to Format SD Card

The only issue and not a very big one is, I am unable to unmount the SD card to format it. I can use the PC; don't know if this is an issue or an isolated event. Suggestions.

Is there a manual workaround that anybody knows about to re-enable this function of getting back into the hidden menu using ##PROGRAM or is there some other way like some file I can vi into to manually edit the baseband parameters?

Hey guys what is the latest baseband everyone is using?

Most current is C_01.43.01P

I'm still on my stock baseband...what would be benefit of upgrading? And is it worth the risk? I'm reading other threads and a lot of people are fine and some people have some semi-serious problems?

Better battery life, and better signal strength. They made some tweaks to the radio in the update. And once Froyo gets pushed out by VZW/Moto most people will have the most current radio update anyways.

As for risk not sure what you mean. All it is is another update.zip to be installed so IMO there is no risk. You can always go back as all 3 different ( IE original, .01.41.01, and .1.43.01 current)radio updates are on the float to be downloaded

5.0.9 A2sd not an option

I installed this ROM and did not delete the the data or cache. The ROM is running fine and everything, but I don't have the a2sd option. Any ideas?
