.901 Compatible KIN3XT v1.0 and P3's one click upgrade

Followed the steps (uninstalled safety strap and bootstrap to be on stock bootloader & was on stock .875 from one click restore bricked droid) as outlined and everything installed fine. Be patient and let the phone due all the necessary reboots! Installed safety strap & Eclipse 2.0 with the .901 patch in safe mode and everything is working great! The phone does take longer to boot up now, which must be the new kernel, so give it a little time before you panic!!!! Thanks for the thread and the continual GREAT support!!!!:biggrin:

Just wondering why you have to use safestrap couldnt you have made a nanoid backup of stock 901 and just used boot strap? When you get done you are on stock 5.9.901 correct? So then that is your primary rom and you have Eclipse as your safe strap rom? If you want to change your primary rom you cant use safestrap you have to use bootstrap.

Worked great, thanks for making it easy and porting it all in one so spot

You don't have to use Safety Strap, just my preference. I like having the option of the stock rom on the first partition & Yes, I installed Eclipse in safe mode (the second partition). Yes, if you want to change your base rom you have to use Bionic Bootstrap and do a nono backup on the .901 stock rom. After Elicpse installed in safe mode it show .901 as the base that it is running on. Hope this helps!

Thanks pal thats kinda what I thought. How do you like Eclipse? I posted earlier I have tried all the roms and Eclipse seems to run the best on my phone. Liberty is close but TH3ORY seems to slow me down but it is by far the best for looks and options. I am a speed freaf though so Eclipse is just good for me and my phone. Thanks

When trying to update the two update.zips through the recovery I always get an error that ends in Status 7 and Installation gets aborted. Any ideas? Im not sure what to do.

Just a quick question for anyone listening. The Instructions in the OP work fine and I have .901 working. My issue is can I install the ROM with Clockwork or should I use safestrap. I have read through the thread and everyone talks about using safestrap but I can't seem to find a download for it as it will not pull up in the market and a google search gives thousands of hits but few links for downloads and I would like the latest version. The ROM is a zip and I have never had a problem with installing a zip through clockwork since I started using bugless beast 2 years ago on the 1st gen Droid. Thanks for any help.

Use bionic safestrap or bionic bootstrap (one at a time, not both together) to get into recovery to install roms and make backups. If you go into a bootloop while using bootstrap your phone is most likely bricked and you will have to sbf/fxz to get back. Encrypted bootloader stops us from manually getting back into recovery I believe.

With safestrap you can get back into recovery by restarting phone and hitting the menu button when safestrap screen pops up, if caught in a bootloop. You have 2 system partitions in safestrap, one for stock system and one for roms. You cannot use webtop with a lapdock in the safe system partition in safestrap.

DroidmodderX has a good video tutorial on using both bootstrap and safestrap.

I use the Bionic Bootstrap and it worked fine. I use the Webtop option alot and I heard you cannot use it if you use safestrap so thats why I use Bootstrap.

Hmm I did run into this when I was trying my update. Lemme look and find the link which fixed this

Edit: Here is the link you should look at. It has all the scenarios that you might run into and the solutions. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...ng-901-heres-everything-you-need-what-do.html

How much fast is Eclipse? Im the same with you being a speed freak. I also am a battery life freak. 2 days ago I got 1 day 1 hour and 30 minutes of battery life on my standard battery with Kin3tx :)

Eclipse and Kin3tx seem about the same for speed to me and about the same battery life. Eclipse for some reason for me switches 3g & 4g without dropping data completely and I am in and out of the two all day and depend on my data. Since the .901 update though I haven't tried Kin3tx to see if that has improved on the .901 update:biggrin:.

Ive been a HUGE fan of the Th3ory roms. But ive also been looking at the Cyanogen roms at the corner of my eye. I remember seeing either the Alpha or Beta for the Bionic. But I think im still going to be on Kinetx. I just love how fast it is and the long battery life im getting
