NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! still an error it gets 1/3 way down loading then tells me E signature verification failed installation aborted.
what did I do wrong??? can I not download it to my PC first then drag it to my SD card?

I had the 46mb FRG01B installed from last week. I have never rooted. I downloaded the 76mb package from post #1 in this thread and renamed it update.zip. It installed just fine.

Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...

Install from sdcard complete.

Again I never rooted and I had the 2.2 update from last week already on the Droid.

QFT just did this and does work. installed over last weeks manual 2.2 update with no problem thanks joe really didnt want to root (nothing against it just havent tried it yet). New clean version is much faster and my home screen doesnt take years to load up now! Step by Step

1)download the virgin 2.2 from OP
2)renamed it update.zip (note here make sure you are showing folder and file extensions as to make sure you dont name it update.zip.zip) I.E tools -> folder options -> View tab -> uncheck hide extensions for known types
3)plug phone into comp and mount sd card
4) open the files on sd card and delete last weeks 2.2 update file that was on sd card
5)drag and drop new update.zip file onto sd card
6) let it finish downloading onto card and then umount sd card and remove phone
7)Turn Phone off
8) turn back on holding while x
9) at exclamation mark hold volume up and camera button
10) navigate to install from sd card
11) let install and when its done navigate to restart phone
12) All done enjoy your virgin 2.2 dancedroid

- Just did the same. Installed new full FRG01B version from OP over the previous one (FRG01B) from last week. I had removed the previous .zip file from my SD card already so there was no duplicate file. Installed fine without phone being rooted. New version fixed bugs I had had since manual install last week (slow response when opening app screen, slow home screen opening when exiting app or browser, etc). Even though I did this before rooting, I did finally bite the bullet and rooted with EasyRoot afterwards. On stock 2.1..got range of 3.8 to 4.2 MFLOPS with LinPack, On stock 2.2 range of 7.9 to 9.6 MFLOPS, on stock 2.2 with SetCPU at 800mhz max getting range of 10.3 to 12.5 MFLOPS....dancedroid

?really?
You just DL the file and updated without Easy Root?
Might have to try that out.

and I type this from my Droid.

Yeah.. I considered not toworry about being a Superuser over it. Been kinda conflicted on that and just staying stock with this new update.
I would probably like to root to see what else I can do with the phone.
If I go with Easy Root and then install this new update, will I have Drocap and the rest of what Easy Root offers?

I ad FRG22 on my rooted DROID when you announced that FRG01B. will be the official install.
I have since returned the Drpod to 2.0.1 non root and installed FRG01B non root using your provided information, No major problems encountered.
Now, is it possible to root 2.2 or if not, what do I do next? Rhank you.

Me too! Solved the slow responses completely!

The [roblem now is that Easy Root has been pulled from the Market by Google and not available anyplace that I can determine.

Ok, need help. I had my wife's phone rooted with the original FROYO FRF84 (or whatever it was). No custom roms or anything, and a P3 kernel. I went to install this update, and only wiped the cache. It installed, and upon reboot I get a boot loop at the eye. If I try to hold down X while booting, now I get an exclamation point in a triangle. Ideas? Help! Thanks
