ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

Can someone check this on the OTA build?

Settings -> Wireless & networks -> (at the bottom) Mobile networks

Option to Check/Uncheck "Data Enabled"

If we manually updated last week and want to manually update the new update.zip. Do we have to go back to 2.1 or can we update.zip from the 2.2 that we have?

copied the url to the droid's default browser and it's saving the zip now. When I was using dolphin it kept giving me the error.

That is the big question. I've been asking around. So far, I've not heard of anyone getting any OTA yesterday or today. If FRG01B is the official OTA, it's not making a lot of progress.

I invite anyone with confirmed official live Verizon OTA FRG01B updates yesterday or today to let us know about them. Otherwise, this is just another rumor.

What's the deal with all of this root talk?

If this is indeed an official update.zip, it will work in stock recovery, so you don't need root to load it. If you need root, it's not the official update.

I guess there is some fuzzy space if you have the previous 2.2 OTA update and a custom recovery (easy root does install a custom recovery, right?) somehow doesn't do the version checking before installing??? Otherwise, I don't see how root vs non-root would make a difference.

Also, I find it interesting that this thread is 8 pages long of people jumping on this update and a total of 1 or 2 people have reported receiving this update OTA.

Anyway, continue on ...

You can install it stock, you don't need to be rooted. First page pretty much takes care of all of that discussion.

I still question that this is the OTA that's going out to everybody.

Personally, I think its a bunch of crock. They keep promising the froyo 2.2 but have never seen it delivered.

If they can't keep with the updates like they claim by the dates. Then they need to go back to the drawing board.

They promise alot and very short on delivery. 2.2 will be here the week in Aug. Has anyone seen it 2.2 on any droid, that hasn't been rooted?

Getting a lil tired of google and motorola's promises..

Yes we have. Quite a few as a matter of fact. :)

They started the update and then stopped it. The reason I hear is because Adobe wants FRG01B to have Flash preinstalled. I also have heard that OTA updates may again start as soon as today. If they have flash in it that will show that this is not the "Official" update.

I'm rooted too so I agree, but with this thread we've got thousands of non-rooted Droid owners wanting to install this, the "Official FRG01B OTA". I fear this thread is unintentionally being equally misleading to them as all the other Froyo OTA threads have been.

If I were not rooted and wanted to stay that way, I would wait for the actual OTA. There is far too much wailing and nashing of teeth going on here, and we still don't have any proof of what the OTA will actually be.

This is a good time to chill out and enjoy your Droid for what it does.

When Froyo was released OTA we had the file that was going out. Well, we linked to it but nevertheless that was what they were releasing and then they stopped.

Now the story about this version available now is that it was released OTA and is much larger then the original FRG01B. The question is, why hasn't anybody else received this OTA? How come just one person received it.

No doubt the file is larger, it has a script written into it and if you are rooted it will remove the root. That is unless you use the version that Jrummy developed.

Btw, we should not assume that a build number is the same as a solid version number. Verizon, Moto and Google can make changes to the build without changing its number. As we have seen, last week's FRG01B can be different than this week's FRG01B. Same goes for FRG22, etc...

Based on previous OTA history, I'd go so far as to say that until the live OTA send is *completed*, we don't know what the OTA will be.
