Personally, I think its a bunch of crock. They keep promising the froyo 2.2 but have never seen it delivered.

If they can't keep with the updates like they claim by the dates. Then they need to go back to the drawing board.

They promise alot and very short on delivery. 2.2 will be here the week in Aug. Has anyone seen it 2.2 on any droid, that hasn't been rooted?

Getting a lil tired of google and motorola's promises..

I have 2.2 on my Droid, and it is not rooted.

What, 928'S theme? PM 928Droid, it's his theme he can help you with it or try the rescue squad. I have never installed a theme on my Droid. Heck I've only had one custom ROM and that was Droidmod.

i have np getting the file on droid and booting to the exc. mark screen...i can't get the proper screen to come up using the vol. up and camera button on side of droid though....guess i'll have to wait for official update, been trying for hours now...lol

I just got off the phone with VZW tech support. I inquired about 2.2 and its roll out. I was placed on hold for a minute and when the rep came back he explained that the D1 will be receiving the new OTA upgrade begining 8/12.

I downloaded the file directly to the droid - deleted last week's update.zip and renamed the new one to update.zip. Rebooted the phone and went through the steps when the triangle came up. Worked perfectly - longest part of the process was the download. Phone is much faster and smoother now.

Can you imagine how outnumbered they must feel? What are there, 5 million Droids out here? If I were a service tech I'd probably ask offer multiple choice answers...

i hold x and power button and the screen comes up with the yellow exclamation mark, np. according to the destructions posted somewhere in this thread you are supposed to then hit the up-volume button and the camera button at same time.....i do that and nothing happens:icon_eek:

Try pressing the camera button first and then press the volume up. That always worked for me. It may take a few seconds, be patient.

So, Miami or hookbill or anyone, what's the latest news on the 2.2 OTA update for Droid 1? I've heard nada for four days....Anyone know of anyone who has received it in that time?

Last I heard, OTA could resume as early as today. That was as of yesterday, I haven't talked to Miami today.

So basically this frg22 build was only a test? I wonder if its actually better to stay on frg01b, I mean I can't really tell the difference, its just weird to know I'm now running on something almost completely unofficial. I'm running the one that meti uploaded.

Thanks, hook. Lucky to have found your reply by accident. I had asked to be notified where this would land...I hate these threads when they get so enormous and full of a zillion tangents. You have to waste so much time reading through stuff not pertinent.
