ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

thanks for help with that. i tried it but it refuses to bring up that option screen, i may save myself a headache by just waiting..:)

So basically this frg22 build was only a test? I wonder if its actually better to stay on frg01b, I mean I can't really tell the difference, its just weird to know I'm now running on something almost completely unofficial. I'm running the one that meti uploaded.

Should I install this one? Its gotten so confusing to me lately its sad. Everyone is releasing different versions of what seem like the same build. And is this one deodexed?(even though I still don't know exactly wtf that mean per say)

I need some help!!!! I know this will be a stupid question, but it says put the update.zip file in the root of the sd card. what is the name of the root file ??or where is it located when I open my sd card

root is the same way as saying the bottom level of the SD card. You want to put it on the SD card, but not in any of the folders.

Current versions of FRG22 require root to install it. This thread is mostly about installing the recent non-rooted version of FRG01B that is "expected" or "rumored" to be the final OTA candidate.

If you want root, there are lots and lots of ROM options.

If you want to remain unrooted, my recommendation is to wait. The OTA will come out eventually and when it does, and when it has has been distributed to thousands of people, we'll know what it contains. Until then, there is no way to predict what Verizon, Moto, Google and now Adobe will decide to distribute to the masses.

Ok, I got wild and crazy yesterday and downloaded the OP's file and the used easyrom to root. Phone is still kinda slow, not as snappy as evertone elese seems to be experiencing. Is next step to do a factory reset? If I do will I lose root?

Odexed is the raw encoded version of the ROM that comes from the factory.

Deodexed has been un-encoded so that themes and other modifications can be easily applied.

Theoretically, odexed runs faster. Whether that is noticable in real life or not depends on what all you are running.

You can be rooted and get this version of FRG01B and remain rooted. Click here for the link.

You might try wiping cache and re-booting first. A factory reset will require that you re-load all your apps and re-setup your phone with Verizon, and it might not be necessary.

In all the ROMing that I've done I've never done a complete wipe except for experimenting when I had a complete backup. That's since the 2.0 days in December. In my experience, complete wiping is overrated and often only makes the work of setting up more difficult.

I would highly recommend that you back everything up before you do anything more though...

I just loaded the file, renamed it and used the standard Droid update procedure. When I was done, everything came up either frozen or working really, really, really slow, so after a few battery pulls, I reinstalled the update and now it seems to be working OK. So if it freeezes or runs like frozen sludge, reinstalling using the standard Droid update procedure (at your own risk of course) may do the trick.

Everything seems to load faster and all the screen responses are much better than before. When I tried the camera from the home screen, it told me it wasn't installed so I dumped it into the drawer and reinstalled on the home screen from the app drawer. Now the camera seems to be working better as well. It's not quite as slow and it seems to focus faster (iphone 4 smokes Droid 1 in this area). I was going to install flash from outside the market, but decided to wait until Google fixes the glitch allowing up to download it from there (I'm really looking forward to that one). I haven't ran all the programs yet, but will get around to it. I'm also using ADW launcher and it seems to be working fine as well.

I expect a few glitches to pop up here and there, but patience will prevail!!!

.....
I wouldn't feel right if I didn't say anything. I realize a lot of people are putting their blessing on this as the official and I'm running it myself. However according to an admin in this forum, this isn't the real deal.
.....
So if what I'm hearing is correct, the real update will go out with Flash preinstalled.

Only time will tell. And I might as well throw this in hear too, I'm hearing the OTA's could start as early as tomorrow.

All of this may not be true, but how come only 1 person has received the OTA? I don't know this person, but I understand that he has a great reputation and he has nothing to gain in lying so I'm not accusing him of any deception. But wouldn't more people come forward saying they received it? Unless I missed it I haven't seen anyone report that they received it today.

I'll just feel better about all of this if someone else reports receiving the OTA.

If anyone else, just one person can confirm they have received this OTA then I'll consider it bad information and delete this post. But I think it's only fair that I let you know what I'm hearing.

When Froyo was released OTA we had the file that was going out. Well, we linked to it but nevertheless that was what they were releasing and then they stopped.

Now the story about this version available now is that it was released OTA and is much larger then the original FRG01B. The question is, why hasn't anybody else received this OTA? How come just one person received it.
.....

In the big scheme of things it doesn't matter, but someone please clarify for me....it started rolling out and then stopped, then started again and stopped again and now is supposed to start again today? Over the weekend I had heard from a Verizon rep that the OTA was supposed to be complete by August 13th. The misinformation/lack of information makes me think big conspiracies really are possible; maybe there was someone on the grassy knoll.

This has been asked repeatedly, I'll ask again but with this added point: with over 100,000 members of this forum, has anyone here received the over the air OTA, any version of the OTA (I don't mean getting it from the OP)? I find this extremely hard to believe.

With all of the checks that these patches are doing I think it'd probably be better just to use to official release at the Froyo site. Rooting is fun but if there's already a OFC release then should we just use it and save the time? What do you think?

SPRecovery after update

I'm gathering my last bit of info before I plunge into Froyo.

With this update rewriting the recovery, and with people reporting they couldn't put SPRecovery back on---> has anyone done this successfully?

Can you give steps and/or links to getting SPRecovery working after this update (and after using Easy Root).

I have become dependent on nandroid :)

THANKS

This question has already been answered. The answer is yes, people have received FRG01B, quite a few but the OTA was halted. The question is the version that we have on the front page. Read the front page and the link to the person who claims to have gotten it OTA and you make a decision.
