ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

I have 5 droids on my family plan. I did the manual update from the OP to three of them the other two received the OTA update. I am having issues with google latitude on 1 of the OTA updated phones and 2 of the manually updated phones. I have posted concerns to that thread hopefully someone has the answer.dancedroid

What exactly is the issue? We can discuss that.

The gps location will not update. It will show the same location for them on my latitude for 18 hours or so and then they will be moved into the stale friends section. The only way for the location to update is to open the google maps or latitude app. Then it starts all over again. I have rebooted the phones and done battery pulls still no help.

I just need to figure out whats up with my lag.

Oh, and my friend received the OTA update which bricked his phone. He got stuck with the large "M" staring back at him and is getting a new phone shipped to him. Good times.....

If it's still lagging after a couple of hours and a reboot hasn't fixed it, you'll need to manually install the update from the OP to clear it up. If your phone boot-loops on you, try to get back into recovery. If you cannot do that, no matter what you do, contact Verizon about getting a new phone.
Hi furbearingmammal, I actually did use the one from the OP. But I was having the lag before with 2.1 as well toward the end. I would have though the update form this thread would have cleared it up.

I just wiped my phone again last night. I reappied the updated form this thread, cleared cache, did a factory reset, ceared cache again, and reapplied the update again. I know its kind od overkill and duplicating step, but I wanted to absolutely sure, non of whatever was causing the lag was going to remain. So far it seems better, but i've barely used to today and am still getting it setup back up the way I like it.
Hopefully it's working better now, then. If not not mistaken, sometimes stuff gets corrupted (or just cluttered) in the cache data and the only way to clear it is to erase it.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken on that. :)

But if it's working better you can set it back up and maybe get rid of a few things you're not actually using, eh? Not that I have any of that cluttering up my phone... <koff koff> :D

Installed Flash 10.1 from the file a couple of pages back; install went fine, but I haven't had a chance to check it out. What I did notice was, even though it's a 4.5MB download, it uses almost 12MB internal memory once installed, and you can't move it to the SD card!

I suppose it doesn't help that I have almost 180 apps, but still...

Another reason to root. You could move those apps if you were rooted, including Flash.

I am rooted! So much to learn, so little time... Now I have a new thing to learn, Thanks!

So far it seems to be behaving a bt better. I didn't use it as much as I usually do today and it was the first "clean" day. So i'll keep an eye on itand see if it really did help. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Droid 2, but i'm waiting to see what the droid pro really is first. :) I'm a physical KB lover.:motdroidvert:

Homescreen Lag

After the Froyo update, which I love by-the-way, my homescreen tends to lag for 10 - 15 seconds after I unlock my phone or slide the physical keyboard back. I unintalled my security/task killer and re started my phone with a Battery pull and the lag remains. This isn't a huge issue but it is an annoyance. I know that there are probably a million threads on this issue but I can't seem to find a thread that specifically talks about my issue, any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Did you push the update manually or did you get it OTA? If you did it manually, did you use the larger file or the smaller file? The smaller file, and the OTA, are identical and have caused more headaches for the Mods, rescue squads, and general public trying to help than I care to mention.

Err...

The OTA and smaller file updates have caused more lag issues than pretty girls running in bikinis next to the highway. Your best bet is either to try to install the larger update file manually or do a factory reset, and if you do a factor reset you lose your apps, etc, and might still have to try to do a manual install of the larger file. If you need help and can't find the files and instructions, links can be provided upon request. :)

I'm getting the unlock lag as well. I performed a factory reset on my phone, then received the OTA update for Froyo. The lag started happening a few days after the update. Possibly due to all the apps I had to reinstall.

I'm hoping the next update solves this because it is a bit frustrating.

homescreen lag

furbearingmammal, thanks for the reply. I did get my update OTA. I have been contemplating a reset but I'm not sure I trust myself to do that or the manual update... which would be easiest or should I just wait for the second part of the summer update? I am not totally inept when it comes to technology but I am definately not a computer wiz either.

Battery pulls rarely if ever help with any problems with a Droid. I'd try uninstalling maps and reinstalling.

Installing the large update file manually seems to clear 90+% of the issues people have been having, and if the install borks you can a)reinstall and b)talk to Verizon about their software messing up your phone. Just don't tell them you did it yourself as the tech might have the wrong information and tell you it's not covered.

Once you've installed the update, go to settings>applications>manage applications and then move as many as you can to the SD card because if your phone is getting full it could cause some of the lag you're experiencing -- but better safe than sorry.

I'm suggesting this because the second update rolling out is a very minor patch that does little except update your GPS and WiFi drivers (according to previous posts) and update your build to FRG22D, which allows you to get Flash officially from the Market.

Ok, so then last question how do I download the "bigger file" and will I lose everything when I download and install it or is it like an OTA update in that everything will still be there after rebooting?

Go to the first post in this thread and download it from there. Then rename it to update.zip and move it to your sd card. Not in a file, just there on the card.

It'll act like an OTA update. You should have everything you had before. I lost Swype, but was able to reinstall it.

The 2.2 update is available on my phone.
Can I do the 2.2 update if my phone is rooted and running Bugless Beast? (See sig)
Will it unroot my phone and cleanly install 2.2?
