Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

All right, I'm neurotic......I did the manual update and have Helix all setup with 7 home screens (slightly buggy but nothing to cry about). Everything is organized. I must like to torture myself because I'm doing a factory reset and waiting for my OTA (if I didn't miss it) just to see if there's a difference. Curiosity man, what can I say?

As far as i know u cant reset the Firmware. It will just reset your data and apps and such.

Yeah, that was a waste....oh well. If we didn't like to mess with our phones we wouldn't be on this forum anyway.

SoCal ota update today @ 11am. The new gallery is an improvement but not much else is different. May need more time to realize the benefit, if any.
Love my Droid regardless.

I got the push last night at midnight. I had no idea what it did nor did I know it was coming. I waited until I got home from work to read up on it. The first thing I came across was a bad news story (http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Droid-smartphone-Google-android-OS,news-6352.html)
The article showed what the update had in it. But I noticed my battery use was much better. What I have seen so far it is pretty impressive. I haven't noticed a slow down at all. I had to delete my gallery icon and repost it.
Again I like it a lot.

Not sure of the motivations behind the writer of this article. Plenty of people here have reported that performance is a bit better, especially in the battery life department. Sounds like it was written by someone with a ax to grind....

iPhone user...lol

There is no rhyme or reason to their update schedule. Your spouse and you could have bought the phone at the same time and one of you will probably get it days before the other. Also it's not going by geographical location. But you can always manually update if you are tired of waiting.

Anyone know if you could turn off or block the update in settings while using stock 2.01? And if so....how do you find it?

Very annoying. Downloading status bar stopped, and said "requires a restart." Pressed the download button again, and again its taking forever to download. I dont even think anything is downloading because its just the status bar and it says downloading.

Perturbed to say the least.

Finally got my 2.1 update tonight at 12:00 midnight.
But the wife's droid did not. both unrooted.

Took a few times of trying and restarting download, but after the 4th try it showed it was downloading.
