Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

all i really wanted was 4+ home screens! i was running pandahome (don't update while thats running, causes a small headache to get the phone to stop restarting the home screen).
am i missing something with the number of screens or did they really just drop the ball on this one??
otherwise i'm happy with the speed & new faces of the existing apps.

Helix launcher works great. Have 5 home screens.

The 4 homescreens and the 3D app drawer were a myth. Never once did Verizon say anything about them. People started saying they would be involved in the update and the rumors started spreading like wildfire. A bit disappointing yes, but I recommend giving Helix Launcher a try, works very well with the 2.1 update. Don't DL helix launcher2 though, will constant loop force close on you.

The best thing to do is click on the first page of this thread. The info on what's included is in the first post. What it entails is either waited for a message to arrive or get the file and install it manually.

While that's true back in January there was a video showing 2.1 with 5 screens and the 3D app drawer so at one time it was planned. Of course that was a while ago and changes were made. What I found odd was the "Flash in this update" rumor. That was never planned.

my gallery doesnt work and says i havent downloaded the app for it, which gallery app do i download after the update?

Just pull the existing gallery icon off your desktop. Then pull up the app menu and press on the gallery icon. This loads the new gallery app on your desktop and it will work fine.

Has anyone had any luck with the speech to voice app? Whenever I use it, it is terriblyl innacurate. Is this feature trainable?

Works great for me, and I got a cajun/southern accent...so I'm very happy with it.

I got my update notice last night and so did my wife. The new features I've seen thus far are the new Gallery app, pinch-and-zoom, swipe to move photo-to-photo, Live Wallpapers (animated wallpapers), Google Googles pre-loaded, News and Weather app pre-loaded.

Other than this, I haven't seen much of a change just yet.

Decided to do the manual update myself because im impatient.. Very easy to do, took 5min if that. Love the Live Wallpapers.

Was using Helix b4 updating and will stick with that because i heard that Home++ didnt support the new Wallpaper.

Now waiting to Root...down the road when you guys figure that out.

Okay problem....

My phone was docked on the multimedia stand and I saw the update notification. I chose to install it and I thought it was finished installing when I removed it from the dock. It suddenly reset (normally doesn't do that when pulling from the dock) and now the launcher fails to launch and I force close it continually. Doesn't even get to the launch screen after I do my passcode.

Help, what do I do? Can I just go back to the Verizon store this afternoon or is there something I can do myself!?

Got it this morning! No time yet to install though. Funny thing is got an email also today from BB saying there's an update for my old BB Storm2 5.0 :huh:
