Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Alright, I thought this was an April Fool's joke until I saw Verizon's page clearly showing a screen of ESE81. I could see Engadget pulling a joke but not VZW. Can't wait to get this.

OK. I know this is only me telling you guys what a verizon rep said.....well....this rep happened to be David Sheffield the head of the support team in the tech support division in Washington D.C. 1000 have rolled out and have been successful with few very minor glitches. 9000 are heading out by midnight tonight. Should only be 4 days do update the over 2 million droids that are out at this point. I was also told the rollout is indeed random but "normally" it is justified by the date of phone purchase. So the ones with early models should see it first. I didn't receive mine until November of 09 so i will be near the end i suppose.

Please don't flame me on any of this info........ i have nothing to gain from the post.......It's just what i was told

Not flaming... but questioning the math. If they are rolling out 200k per day, it will take 10 days to get to 2mm. Or are they accelerating the rollout as it goes?

i love all the hysteria that happens when we get an update like this.

As do I. These threads make me laugh at how angry people get when they get fooled again.

I went into McDonalds and I was talking to the lady that makes the BigMacs. Apparently her daughter talked to Tom Cruise on his Facebook. Tom's daughter was eating Chef Boyardee's ABCs and 123s with meatballs. In them it clearly spelled out 'Nessy the Loch Ness Monster says the Droid update is coming April 1st'. Obviously this is fact, so get your Droids ready.

We have had at least 5 dates now that were "the real thing" coming from reliable sources posted by admins and/or news team folks, and all have failed. You had me in late January and early February, but have lost me since. I don't care if the president of the "All Information About the Motorola Droid Fan Club" shows up here, with a notorized document showing the date of the update signed by upper folks of Verizon, Motorola, Google, and KFC .

I will believe it when I see a real update.zip .

At least I have something to pass the time (reading this thread) when I get home tonight until LOST is on. I'd believe it the update was really happening if someone posted the update file. Didn't realize Verizon knew to send the first 1000 updates to their most loyal employees.

Guy confirmed that there is definitely only 3 SCREENS. Not good VZW.

I just don't get it. It seems so simple. I guess I'm going to have to use a third-party home replacement and just live with all the FC's and slowness.

Helix Launcher is NOT slow nor does it Force Close and its for NONROOTED droids

About time...I guess im gonna De-root now. I liked the custom roms but i would rather have a warranty than show off to my iphone friends.
