Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

How exactly does that look like a Photoshop? It's a picture of a computer monitor..

im not sure what kind of computer monitor your using, but mine displays text lines STRAIGHT not going off some wonky angle, also the DROIDLIFE logo is perfectly straight and not at the same angle the left text is or even the right text, it also looks like it was photoshoped there and NOT taken with the camera

EVERY RED LINE IS STRAIGHT
attachment.php

If you take a photo of a conventional (CRT) monitor and you are slightly off center the lines would not appear straight due to the curvature of the monitor.

LOL, that's not even it tho.

Flomaster didn't realize that his base (the droidlife logo) that he measured all his red lines off of was OBVIOUSLY put in there after the original pic.

I don't think he quite understood what he was looking at.

Why would a VZW email have a DroidLife logo? LOL

Looks like photoshop to me. Maybe i am wrong. I certainly hope so since i just gave up root and UD 8.6.3!!!!!

The logo is clearly photoshopped in. Why would verizon put droid life bull**** on their page? comeon...

so i took my phone and i went to system updates and it said update available, I downloaded the update and waiting for about 30 minutes to download and instantly installed it. AFter that i rebooted my phone and was so happy....

but then i realized it was my blackberry tour they released the 5.0 yesterday...dammit!!! :icon_ banana:

Its not fake. It's not shopped. It's real. I'm not about to defend myself or my source who has been 100% spot on every time.

I'm just playing the devils advocate because that screenshot shows ESE53 yet all the other copied and pasted emails say ESE81.

We all know it's ESE81 but if that screen is real why are there 2 different ones? I know you can't answer that it's a rhetorical question but it does raise some questions.

I'm not trying to argue with you either Kellex so please don't misconstrue what I'm trying to convey.

Honestly, it could be something simple such as...

They had that email written up 2 weeks ago when they planned to roll out ERE53.

Since then, the programmers changed to ESE81 and the person who was in job with the simple task of sending out the email to the VZW stores forgot to replace 53 with 81.

Could be...who knows. But EVERYTHING else besides this one small typo is pointing to it rolling out today.
but that does not explain the discrepancy between the emails.

With this screen shot it is in direct contradiction of the other emails that were posted earlier.

Just spoke to Lauren at my local VZW Store

Fun fact: Anyone on this forum knows more than your local VZW Store rep. Seriously. They find out their info from engadget/BGR/forums just like us.
Yeah, I love to call in with a real problem and teach the stupid tech on the other side how to even check for things... I have to constantly remind them that battery pulls are for blackberrys not androids...

What's the post # of the earlier emails?

Copy and Paste. I bolded the "original" emails discrepancy:

Starting 03/30/2010, Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for the DROID by Motorola. Users will be able to upgrade their software to version AP: ESE81/BP: C_01.3E.03P to receive new improvements and enhance

**screen cap says 3/30 only (no year) and ESE53**

I wonder if the people at Verizon/Moto sit back and read all this hooplah about 2.1 and laugh at what we get wrong. They are probably eating popcorn laughing and wondering how this all started.

So on a somewhat related topic, I'm at work reading this thread. If there's over 1100 people here reading this thread, and even half of them are at work like I am, how much real work is actually getting done? :work3:

I haven't gone into work yet. :)

P.S Some of us are not lucky enough to be able to read forums while at work.

I have the week off so I can read and laugh while I wait & wonder if we will actually get an update this time. :D

OK. I know this is only me telling you guys what a verizon rep said.....well....this rep happened to be David Sheffield the head of the support team in the tech support division in Washington D.C. 1000 have rolled out and have been successful with few very minor glitches. 9000 are heading out by midnight tonight. Should only be 4 days do update the over 2 million droids that are out at this point. I was also told the rollout is indeed random but "normally" it is justified by the date of phone purchase. So the ones with early models should see it first. I didn't receive mine until November of 09 so i will be near the end i suppose.

Please don't flame me on any of this info........ i have nothing to gain from the post.......It's just what i was told

Here is another person called "cellularsales" from tampa make a post with the email... scroll down it's at the bottom.

HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - Android 2.1 (Delayed) Pre-Update thread for Motorola Droid

Im guessing ese53 was what they originally planned to roll out and when they had to delay it ese81, people failed to make the change to 81 on the original doc's they were going to send out.

all the screenshots of people that have received the update have said 81 tho

I think I got some placebo effect goign on. My 3g icon indicates my phone has been downloading something for the last 10 minutes or so, I keep checking my phone like a freak to see if anything shows up.

I'm a sad man. It's probably going to be some big email or something (I work in a very limited coverage area and get v. slow internet speeds until I get about a mile away from work)
