Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Go back to somehwere in the first 10 pages or so. I posted that I had talked to several stores. All but one confirmed the rollout was happening.

Now, as far as the above photo of the screen goes, the "Droid Life" logo is photoshopped on there, as for the rest of it, I don't know. The discrepancy on the ESE53/ESE81 thing begs a couple of questions, but who knows?

So far, though NO confirmation through official channels. (i.e. Verizon, Motorola websites, or their Twitter or Facebook pages.) They could be holding of until Thursday, when it is supposed to be rolling out to everyone.

Of the stores I called, 3 or 4 of the reps read from the release they received, so make of it what you will. The more I think about it the less inclined I am to think it's a hoax.

Her exact words, "It actually just released about 50 minutes ago however it will take about 3-4 days before everyone get's it.

Numbers there. Call and ask her yourself.

Couldn't be happier I finally just pulled the trigger to root & ROM this weekend! Now I don't have to get stuck waiting for the update to get rooted.

Do all ROMs come equipped with the un-ignorable compulsion to tell everyone what you did, even when it isn't appropriate or relevant to the conversation? Or do you have to download that as an add-on?

Funny story..sorta, My "trans-reciever" went out on me this morning, so I just got off the phone with Verzion. Should be getting my new Droid tomorrow morning via UPS.

I know it wont come with the update, but wondering if I have to wait a while to get it...

So, I've seen discussions from time to time about it but couldn't find any through searching. Are there benefits for going back to stock and getting the actual 2.1 update? And can you not root if you have 2.1 until people reconfigure it for 2.1?

I'm just playing the devils advocate because that screenshot shows ESE53 yet all the other copied and pasted emails say ESE81.

We all know it's ESE81 but if that screen is real why are there 2 different emails floating around? I know you can't answer that it's a rhetorical question but it does raise some questions.

I'm not trying to argue with you either Kellex so please don't misconstrue what I'm trying to convey.

Looks like photoshop to me. Maybe i am wrong. I certainly hope so since i just gave up root and UD 8.6.3!!!!!

How exactly does that look like a Photoshop? It's a picture of a computer monitor..

im not sure what kind of computer monitor your using, but mine displays text lines STRAIGHT not going off some wonky angle, also the DROIDLIFE logo is perfectly straight and not at the same angle the left text is or even the right text, it also looks like it was photoshoped there and NOT taken with the camera

EVERY RED LINE IS STRAIGHT

Honestly, it could be something simple such as...

They had that email written up 2 weeks ago when they planned to roll out ERE53.

Since then, the programmers changed to ESE81 and the person who was in job with the simple task of sending out the email to the VZW stores forgot to replace 53 with 81.

Could be...who knows. But EVERYTHING else besides this one small typo is pointing to it rolling out today.

If you take a photo of a conventional (CRT) monitor and you are slightly off center the lines would not appear straight due to the curvature of the monitor.

Wow look at someone actually take the time to try and break it down. I'm telling you right now, it's not fake. The guy took a picture of his screen with his camera and sent it over. I added the Droid Life logo on there which obviously isnt going to match up.

This will be the last response on this from me. Come on people. I have nothing to gain by lying and neither does my source.
