Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

Just to recap after installing this:

-YES, pinch to zoom, where you expect it to be (mmm hmm, browser too)

-Weather and News widget installed by default

-Text-to-speech on the keyboard

-3d gallery is definitely there

-Live wallpapers (11 installed by default)

-Yahoo! Mail functionality, I can't find. I'm sure its there, someone can point me in the right direction.

DOWNSIDE THUS FAR

Lagginess. Am I the only one experiencing this?? Let me know. Even scrolling the drawer, is laggier than 2.01. It might be related to the live wallpapers, I will let you know.

You really should wipe data if coming from 2.0.1. I know it doesn't say to, but experience has been one heck of a teacher to me.

I love the warp effect, especially when you crank it.

For the older generation out there, Its like being on the Millennium Falcon :D

By the way, rsdlite works quite quickly on a quad core computer with 6gb of ram. I'm already back on CM and restored.

RoLaDrOiD... my buddy! If only you lived in the middle of BFE (aka Montevideo, MN) I would mosie on down to the VFW buy your ass a dark beer! It would have to be amberbock cuz thats all they got, unless you like that piss water! EITHER WAY,!, Thank you so much!!!

Got it installed thanks to everyone for putting this up and having a short but simple walk through. I have a question though, anyone know a good home replacement (price is no matter) that will allow more then 3 screens and preferably one where you pick the number of screens where the live wall papers work. Im currently running home++ beta and really dont want to let it go but if theres something else out there it would be great.

What do you mean by "wipe data"? Do I need to write down my installed apps and do a clean wipe? BTW, I don't doubt your exp, just looking for clarification. I just got done doing extensive testing with and without live wallpaper. FOR ME (bolded for emphasis), the live walls, DEFINITELY, slow down my Droid. Smooth sailing with a static wall, lagginess, with the live...

Damn you! I downloaded both - I still like the Water the best. Starfield makes me want to vomit :)

By the way my battery life is WAY better than before I am still at 80% and using the screen like nuts.

Helix is the way to go.

No lag at all here even with 5 screens Helix and live wallpaper. I never rooted, and somehow in installing 2.1 it even got rid of all the APK's I had installed and replaced them with updated versions.

Very impressed. Worth the wait.
