Android 2.1 Update Rolls Out For Motorola Droid!

OK people. You will NOT get flash until adobe releases it. It will NOT be included in the update. Adobe will most likely set the app out on the market when it is ready.

I cannot believe that the VZW Support Twitter page is saying there is no release date for the update. It's pretty obvious that it's out there. Apparently someone over there didn't get the memo.

That's because its some idiot who don't know what hes talking about. Just like 95% of the reps didn't before yesterday :)

OK. But are you saying that Flash isn't included in the update? And if so, when will it be ready?

(Just wanted to play as useful a part in this thread as many others.)

Cannot Update

Cannot update. Have tried every method suggested in this tread. Problem may be that I am currently using the ESE53 ROM from a couple of weeks ago. Tried resetting to factory defaults but it always reloads ESE53.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

i have nandroid system recovery. how would i do a manual install?

i went to ->install->install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated) but i would get an error message and the installation had aborted.

my droid is rooted.

When will every HTC have 2.1? I just bought mine yesterday and its still on the old one.

We don't know because this thread is not about HTC its about the Motorola Droid. If you have questions about HTC go to the HTC section of the forums or find another HTC forum for your phone.

I applied the manual update and the ONE thing I was not concerned about has ended up being pretty cool - live wallpapers. Not all of them, mind you, but I'm really digging the minimalism of the polar clock. I've noticed no lags in using it either. Battery drain is still TBD.

Twice, though, when I've placed my droid in the media dock and removed it, it has wiped my screen clean of any and all icons/widgets. A power down and back up brings them back to their place, but it's a drag. Could this be a bug?

This is an issue in 2.0.1 as well and possibly 2.1 I guess this tells me it wasn't fixed :( It's not certain what causes it yet. It's theorized that it's a combination of things/apps. I installed a bunch of stuff and it got better. Now when it happens I can hit the home button 3 or 4 times and it'll come back without a reboot. You can also manage applications and find the home app and force close it and that resets the icons.

I was using DM and just flashed back to the stock ROM before applying the update.

2.1+Helix Launcher ftw

Im using DM as well. Do you notice any stability differences? I guess im just trying to figure out why you went back to stock if you had DM. I have been thinking about it. Is it much slower?
2 reasons I'm not sure about updating is because of overclocking and the smoked glass theme. I dont know if you can use themes with helix

Perhaps we need an updated page one or a sticky or something with the details of what's included, etc., so people dont keep asking the same questions.

I don't blame them for doing so as you'd have to be bored, insane and have no life to sort through almost 1500 posts for info. Searching droid and flash wont be very useful either (or other repeat questions).

If you don't like the question, ignore it, there's no need to bash curious people.

do i need to have my phone in a certain mode to get this update....does wifi need to be on or something i have had my phone sitting in the dock station all day and no update

Did after selecting to install did you then choose to allow the installation and try installing again? You need to do that.

Are you using helix launcher 2? I forced the update this morning and downloaded helix 2 from the market and kept getting force closes so I uninstalled it and went back to launcher+ so I can still use 5 screens. If you or anyone else knows a way to use a launcher with the 3d app drawer and more screens please let me know.
