btw the iphone 4 has a front facing camera doesn't it? I'm pretty sure no other iphone iteration has that. i'm also pretty sure that a camera is considered hardware. so that sounds like a hardware revision. pretty sure about that.

This is what Apple does. If you can't see that then you are blind to the truth. They recycle hardware every two to three years.

First you said they'll only change antenna. Then you said they'll never have multiple hardware revisions. and now you say it's every two to three years.

and how are you downplaying the changes they are making? "oh it's just a little more memory, or oh its just a little more internal storage"...those are hardware changes. just because the screen stays at 3.5 doesn't mean there are no hardware changes and that the current iphone is identical to the 2007 version. every version has had some kind of hardware revision, and just because you say "oh that's nothing" doesn't make it so. if you expect the iphone to cook your breakfast and walk your dog, then yes you'll be disappointed...

I doubt VZW is spending the MILLIONS of dollars that they are on the LTE technology just to let it fall of the needed list....lol.... seriously dude??:icon_eek:

More and more consumers are becoming educated. There is this thing called the internet and information and news is spread instantly to eager readers. It's not like it used to be. More and more people are making informed decisions whether through their own research or by asking those "in the know" prior to making any purchase.

Unless they're buying an iPhone, right? Then it's just them buying into the Apple fad? And it's completely inconceivable that people are buying Android for the fact that it's the "anti-Apple" platform?

no one said the iphone is coming before LTE. had you read my posts, which clearly you've proven again that you haven't, i've said multiple times "assuming the iphone comes out in early 2011"...you didn't read it, and you were wrong.

i can't have been more clearer what i'm trying to argue (and that doesn't mean i'm right, it's just what i'm trying to argue). if you can't figure out what i'm trying to argue, then you haven't read my posts. simple as that.

and finally, you misconstrued what i meant. if i ever implied that verizon would not push LTE ever and just throw away any idea of an LTE campaign then i'd be a complete moron. Clearly, they are not going to just say "oh well, we set up this multi billion dollar LTE infrastructure...we probably don't need to push it"...i mean, how dumb do you think i am? hahaa...i'm not a genius, but geez gimme a little credit.

i've argued 2 main points in this thread:

[1] consumers don't care about software and what's really going on in an OS -- if they did, commercials wouldn't be catchy tunes with people dancing around in a white room like morons (iphone commercials), or some mysterious phone playing blockbuster movies and shooting lasers out (android commercials). marketing is what sells phones, not whether it's open source or not, or whether or not someone has a one year development cycle or a 2 week cycle. I've never wavered from that. The best way to prove me wrong, would be to show me where I said consumers do care about such things. I've never said it, because that's not what I believe.

[2] if (if...not when...if) the iphone comes out before LTE, the iphone is going to get pushed more until LTE capable devices start being available. I've not wavered from that either. Know how you can prove me wrong? Show me where I said "the Iphone is coming out before LTE, and I know it!!" or show me where I said "Verizon is going to abandon LTE advertising and marketing, because they finally got the iPhone!!!!!"...never said it, never will cuz that would be dumb. There is no indecisiveness on my part. I still believe that if (if...not when...if) the iPhone comes out in early 2011, its going to get a push before LTE does. I guess my confusion came mainly from what you stated below...which your now apparently forgetting about.

from a business perspective it makes zero sense to finally get the iphone and then tell people about LTE with the same gusto. It becomes watered down when you do that. anyone would see that.

if someone advertises something as amazing (which they will when they get the iphone), and you go into the store and once there they start telling you about how amazing something else is, you're doing it wrong. it makes ZERO sense to do something like that.

There are no "new" buyers who havent been swept up in the iPhone craze. Please don't tell me that Timmy is going to come in having never heard of the iPhone or the hooplah surrounding it. The iPhone sells cuz of hype and marketing. everyone and their mother and their dog knows what an iphone is. No new customer is going to walk in bewildered and say "iPhone?? what's that?? haven't heard much about it"

Trust me, the ENTIRE world is going to know how fast LTE is. But it's not going to know two days after Verizon gets the iPhone.
