Another Bionic that can't get a data connection... no 4G/3G/1X signal.. only wifi...

I'm on my 3rd hardware unit. All three drop data. Could it possibly be a problem with the SIM? I'm not even using LTE (battery suck); CMDA. It appears to happen when I get to a low signal, then the bars go white with no 3g or 1x symbol, and won't come back until I reboot. This totally blows. Can I go back to Verizon and give up this phone for good, or am I stuck with this lemon for two years?

I don't think it's with the SIM.

I am on my second Bionic and my wife has one as well and all three have the issue. I believe if this was SIM related that there wouldn't be so many issues with so many SIMS. I honestly feel it is a problem with this phone on this network. I think that Verizon and Motorola are trying to fix the problem without acknowledging it. I think that are hoping a software update fixes the problem. If it doesn't get resolved by the next OTA update then Verizon is going to have a lot of angry customers. This is Motorola's first 4G LTE device and it is definitely filled with bugs. I believe Motorola should recall the phone and offer a working model. If the OTA update fails to fix the problem then Verizon will have to decide if they are going to offer a replacement and/or a release from the 2 year contract. Many people are banking on the supposed November OTA and I am as well. Don't hold your breath waiting for Verizon to do the right thing. We may be stuck with a 2 year deal on a phone that doesn't work right. I know I will be returning mine if the OTA doesn't fix it and I suggest that everyone with the issue do the same until they get one that works.

Had the issue for a month until my area got 4g. Now 3 Weeks without a single issue. Phone has been perfect. figure that one out.

Guys, I'm having the same issue. My data connection drops constantly, I don't even get 3G sometimes. My fix was turning airplane mode on then off, or power cycling if the airplane mode trick doesn't work. I called Verizon today and the rep told me they are aware of the issue and they are pushing out an update the beginning of Nov. that will address this issue.

I was on the phone with VZ all morning bouncing back and forth from from rep to rep (even one from Moto). I found out that they wont replace the Bionic with something different and the software upgrade/fix will be coming sometime early Nov. After all was said and done, I got one $50 credit for the October and another $50 for next month's problems. If the fix isn't here by Nov, I'll try like Hell to get another $50 credit!

Hmmm... I'm up for an upgrade and my OG Droid is barely holding on running PE6.5 (w/supercharged). After considering everything I decided on the Bionic (even with the pentile hooey I'm not too fond of), and if I find I don't like it I planned to give it to my kid and then buy the Galaxy Nexus at full retail. In my neurotic pursuit of every tidbit of information I could find, I came across enough posts on this data-drop issue that now not only am I still stuck with my OG Droid, I'm also annoyed. Yeah, yeah, I KNOW - wait for the fix in the next few weeks. By then the Nexus will be out, so...

That's all. Just venting. I don't feel better. Thanks for reading.

Data loss is driving me f-ing crazy. I am running the .893 update, I have tried all of the "fixes" I've seen mentioned everywhere. I am in a 3g area running in CDMA only mode. I lose data constantly. I can't find any way to get it back either. Airplane mode doesn't work, restart connections app doesn't work, reboot doesn't work, battery pull doesn't work, I just have to wait until it decides to come back.

Still unacceptable on Verizon's end. We basically own a overpriced MP3 player at this point. The fact they won't switch anyone out to a different phone that actually works is a bunch of **** too. I'm sure if I went down there and raised hell for 2 hours I might get that done, I just don't want to deal with the bull****.

Has there been any update to this? Here we are, November 10. No OTA update.

I had a week of pretty rock solid connection. Then starting yesterday I'm back to the groove of waking up my phone only to see NO DATA. Rarely have I experienced something that frustrates me to my very core as much as this issue has. It's taking all my will power to not hurl this turd against the wall.

They changed it at the end of Oct to expect it within: 30-60 days.

Well I just received the replacement phone from verizon. They said that this phone would work better and to try it out. They took my $50 data credit from me because they were mad that I dl'd most of that data that is in my plan. I told them that it does connect it's just at certain times it doesn't connect and that is very frustrating that is why I wanted a credit. They ended up giving me another the 16 dollar credit and try the new phone out. Here goes nothing!

Sorry, but don't hold your breath. I'm on my 3rd Bionic, and all 3 had the same issue. But my brother bought one, and hasn't had a problem, so I don't know what to make of that. Mine has been miserable today. Utterly useless unless you can get on wifi.

I was in a meeting yesterday with 5 people that had bionics. They all were doing something different.

I hope this OTA Fixes the issues!
