Apparent GPS Failure

...after i added my last post, i decided to turn my Droid off than back on: it went from having 9/9 sats, to having 0/0 now that it has been reset.

should all PRL's be the same in the same area and same phone ?
Why is mine 65061 and yours 51638 ?
Any way it is,GPS does not work, boo

Got my new (2nd) droid from Wirefly yesterday. PRL is 51638 after doing the *228 option 2. Guess what? GPS is fine on this one so far. It even connects occasionally inside the house and none of my GPS standalone units do that. But 10 seconds outside and the lock is solid. I haven't traveled with it much yet but it's already 10 times better than before. I was never an Alltel customer, this is my first attempt with Verizon.

btw, I'm not sure that it's relevant but the old droid was a 39/09 and the new one is 45/09. A few of the components visible inside the back, like the SD card slot, are different in the new one. I'm not saying this is a hardware issue, we just have no idea what's important here. Fact is, this one works, last one didn't.

...I love google maps and the Navigator but i cant seem to figure out how to save a location as a favorite. Anyone have any ideas on this? :motdroidhoriz:

This thread should help you out!

If you prefer, you can long-press an empty area of your desktop and press "shortcuts," "Directions," and enter the address. You will then have a shortcut that, in one press, opens the nav program and navigates to the destination from your current location. If you make a lot of these, you can also create a folder on your desktop to hold them all and save desktop space.

How do I get the 51638 PRL
I have 65061

your PRL has to do with carrier and area ...you have neither listed.
51638 seems to be VZW/Tampa area.
30049 appears to be Alltel/Tampa area.

i'm hoping the VZW store tech can manually program it since an automatic update only gives you the newer version of the same one you have.

this thread would be easier to sort out if everyone updated their UserCP with local and added original carrier to their sig.

ONE MORE ODD THING:

today
in tampa
fowler avenue
heading EAST
about 40th st... THE GPS WORKED for 3 miles
then i go to my destination
later.... never worked again
WHY?
who the HE___ knows
great program, though
liked the way it looked..... for those 3 miles.... :icon_ banana:

Well, I feel slightly 'tarded. I was pressing "1" after *228 and just did it again, pressing "2" this time.

Yet my PRL remains 40058. :icon_rolleyes:

i still can't believe that mine worked
for 3 miles...
worked beautifully
locked after 2 seconds...
then, POOF !!!!
it was gone
never to return
this really is quite embarrassing for verizon
they better get off their rears and fix this problem.... THIS WEEKEND..... please
