Droids D1 are back

I just got off the phone with asurion since its been nearly 4 weeks since I filed a claim and they offered me the DI back then and I was told that the DI is still in back order. The rep told me that now have the D1 available and if I wanted that one or keep on waiting for the DI. Hell I've waited this long might as well wait a little longer for the DI. She told me that I would not have to wait too much longer.

Im guessing that those of you who got your DI already must have filed a claim a lot sooner then I did. I filed on July 12. How about the rest of you who got your DI. How long did you have to wait before the order was fulfilled?

I called yesterday and this morning to inquire about the stock of a Moto Droid and they say they have plenty in stock, I don't know people are getting Incredibles or getting offered the other phones. Is this a regional thing?

BTW, in what step of the online claim process would you get offered a different phone? Is it after you fax in your info or before? Everytime I check it just says I will be shipped a Droid.

I was filing for my nearly dying droid 1. They didn't have stock last monday. Suddenly on Wednesday they had stock after it was leaked they may be doing Moto X's and incredibles...

Waiting for Phone to arrive from Asurion

Great Im currious to find out if you actually get a New D1 or refurb. Hopefully they send you a brand new D1 or better yet a DX. Im still waiting for the DI replacement. Its been 4 weeks since I filed a claim.

OK, so I just received my brand new Droid replacement from Asurion. Thank the Droid Gods that it was a refurb.

I'd be happy with an Incredible, the X is too big for my liking. I think I may try to get it replaced either the end of the week or next week.

Its not that hard for anyone who doubts what I say to call Asurion yourself and confirm. The VZW rep didnt understand it either, and when he called...he was also told that they would no longer get refurbs or new droids. Not even backordered.
I had the same argument, I pay to insure my droid...not another phone. So I expect to get a droid, not what ever other smartphone they choose to give me. And if they cant supply what I PAY FOR...the choice should be mine as to which phone I want. I told them I would even take an Incredible, but said the Desire was my only choice. Assurions logic mad no sense. Thank god the reps at Verizon are as good as they are. Assurion need to take some customer service training from VZW.

The question is what is the situation. From what you say it makes it sound like there will never be anymore Droids. This just doesn't make sense.

Now I went to their website and here's the policy on replacement:

Coverage objective is to fulfill claims with the same make and model you claim. If your model is not available, a like-kind make and model will be substituted.

So it's right there in the policy. If they run out they can substitute. So we can all cancel our insurance or hope they get more in stock. I believe they will get more in stock.

Yep.. That is their policy. I had my Droid stolen while at Busch Gardens and the following day placed my claim online with Asurion. It immediately stated my DROID was on backorder and I could have an Eris right away if I accepted. I looked at the side by side comparison and it was obvious I did not want the Eris. I chose to leave my DROID selection on backorder. The next day(Saturday) I received a voice message that my DROID was in and being shipped that day!! I received it Monday afternoon with a new leather case that was better than the one I had from Verizon and it came with a NEW sd card as well!!!

Just remember that neither the Droid 2 or Droid X can do what the Droid 1 can, custom recoveries and custom ROMs. Their encrypted boot loaders make this impossible.

Do all replacement phones come from Asurion? Even the warranty ones that are covered for one year?
